I drove 45 minutes to for my birthday tonight, excited to try their tacos and enjoy the atmosphere. Their Google listing clearly says they’re open until 1 a.m., so arriving around 9:30 p.m. should’ve been no issue.
Unfortunately, when I got there, the front door was locked—even though I could still see people inside being served. I asked a waitress through their bay window if they were open and she casually told me they were actually closing at 10 or 11 (she wasn’t sure which) and found the situation more amusing than helpful.
I can understand if hours change, but if you’re going to advertise late-night dining, update your hours online. No one wants to waste their time or gas, especially on a special occasion.
I was genuinely looking forward to trying the food, but after that experience, I won’t be returning—regardless of how good the reviews are.

I originally had a less than satisfactory experience at Sombra, which led me to leave a one-star review. However, the owner reached out to me personally and was incredibly sincere and commendable in addressing my concerns. He even offered a gift card to give the restaurant another try. I appreciate this gesture and the commitment to customer service. I will update my review once I visit again and try the food, but for now, I’m raising it to three stars for the owner’s effort and transparency.

My wife and I recently had the chance to revisit Sombra, and we’re really glad we gave it a second chance after having a bad experience the first time. The atmosphere was beautiful, with two bars and an open dining area. We started with the empanadas and guacamole—the guacamole was super fresh—and the margaritas were delicious, made with fresh purée. For our entrées, we had the chorizo and shrimp dish and the carne asada, both made with fresh ingredients and full of flavor. This visit completely changed our perspective, and we’ll definitely be back to try the...
Read moreHere is a prime example of an intentional management decision to grab every cent possible from the customer without them knowing. For those not paying attention, (1) the restaurant has all new glassware. Look closely and you’ll notice they are smaller (but stylish), but still smaller. (2) Additionally the cocktail does not fill the new glass. You are getting a far smaller drink. (3) The price for the cocktails are approximately $1. More than other restaurants. (4) here’s on that blows my mind. Ordered 2 Tequila’s $15. each, 1 neat which they charged $2. Additional and 1 with rocks, an additional charge of $2.50. (5) the new 2 bar set up I liked. However sat near one bar with 2 bartenders working and even with almost ever seat occupied they were able to stand and talk to each other most of the night. However on the other side of the restaurant at the other bar the 1 bartender was taking care of the same size, full bar as well as being the service bar for the restaurant itself. Needless to say table service suffered.
Ordered flight of guacamole, served on a small rectangular plate with the 3 bowls on the plate with a small amount of Chips. Of course asked for some chips to finish the guacamole, about 12 at another $3.
While the food was decent tasting, our party was informed that the food will come out as soon as it’s made and it did just that. One at a time with 4-5 minutes between each person. For a party of six this was weird at best. If you plan on dinning with someone, completely awkward. Your call!
One other thing that was annoying was the continuous beating of the GAP type music.
Have been to other restaurants this group owned with mixed results. Don’t appreciate being taken advantage of underhandedly.

Read moreSombra offers a sophisticated yet inviting dining experience. Picture two bars, each with its own personality, stretching down both sides of the restaurant. There are plenty of tables to accommodate more intimate dining or larger parties.
Let's talk drinks. Sombra knows how to mix them! The Tequila Old Fashioned is a sophisticated twist on a classic, and the Mex-spresso Martini is an espresso lover's dream. The Watermelon Margarita was the star for me from the Margarita flight - refreshing and perfectly balanced.
The sharing type menu encourages guests to explore a variety of dishes but larger plates are also available if preferred. I really enjoyed the Nachos and the Tropical and Chorizo Poblano Guacamole. Papas Fritas flight will have everyone fighting for the last fry! The Carne Asada is a must-try, bursting with incredible flavor, I could not get enough of it. As for tacos, the Camarones (Shrimp) and Rum N' Cola Cerdo (Pork) are the winners in my book.
Brunch at Sombra is equally fabulous. The Barbacoa Benedict is a showstopper while the Avocado Toast is a crowd-pleaser. Pair these with a Sombra Mimosa or a Churro Iced Cafe Express for a perfect start to your day.
I've been to Sombra many times, for dinner, brunch, or just drinks, and each visit is better than the last.
Pro tip: If Main Street Coffee is too packed, head over to Sombra for an after-dinner drink. With two large bars and fantastic cocktails, it's the perfect spot to...
