I've been coming here since I moved to Glastonbury four years ago, but I will not be returning.
My job was closed last year due to the pandemic and I was celebrating the new job I got by treating my sister and I to lunch -- I haven't been paid yet, so I came in and spent the last $20 I can afford to. My sister got a lovely sandwich. I don't eat meat often so I usually get the veggie sandwich, but what I got was more or less just lettuce, tomato, mayo, and provolone on a roll. I went back in explaining I must have miscommunicated, and the employee peeled back the cheese to show me that, yes, there were TWO SLICES of pepper and maybe three mushrooms. That veggie blend is supposed to replace the meat! If it could be hidden under a slice of cheese, does that seem even remotely adequate?
This was supposed to be a treat and I got lettuce and cheese on bread. I have that at home!!! I asked her to put more of the veggie blend on and she just threw on some artichokes, which should have been included in the first place!
I've loved this place and I tipped every time I went including today, but I will never be coming back. I regret trying to get something I enjoyed, and I felt humiliated just trying to ask for the same consistency I...
Read moreThis is a grinder shop, also known as a sandwich shop for those not from the east coast. What makes this place different from those "other" sandwich chains? Quality, variety, and price. A little secret is that you don't have to have any of the ingredients on an actual sandwich (bread) if you don't want to, you can have it as a serving on a plate... good for those that want to cut bread from your daily diet.
Quality: Excellent, they take pride in how their food is cooked and refrigerated, when necessary.
Selection/Variety: The main protein is chicken. They do offer boneless ribs (not sure if it is beef or pork). Also, they have plenty of vegetarian options. Eggplant lasagna, pasta salads, and traditional leaf/lettuce salads. There are a nice selection of deserts from puddings, cookies, and cannolis.
Price: Obviously this is all relative, but I think that the price is okay considering the high quality of food. The price can climb up quickly if you select more than 2 or 3 items.
Service: Is usually very quick and friendly. I once got a smaller piece of chicken than usual, and they added a second full-size for free, and without me needing to complain about the initial small piece. Proactive is a nice quality to experience in...
Read moreVery rarely do I give a one star review but in this case, I think it is warranted here. Employees are reflection of good or poor management. In this case, my wife picked up sandwiches to go. Her sandwich was made as she ordered. My sandwich she had requested it be made just as it says on the menu. The pastrami sandwich on the menu is baked with cheese mustard, and has the word everything in quotations which includes lettuce, tomato, classic dice mix, which I believe is a vegetable spread, olives, and hot sauce. The whole size is $15.49 so I expect to get what I pay for. It is not unreasonable to also expect employees to know the menu that they are working with all day long. Pastrami is popular so I can't imagine how mine was the first sandwich they got made all day. I called and expressed my disappointment to worker that said you didn't get everything on the sandwich after I just explained it was pastrami with a sparse amount of cheese. He apologized for the mistake. I understand the mistakes are made. I could more easily understand if it was a special order,...
