I attended Dona Marina restaurant with my partner for the seafood boil (lemon pepper, xhot spice).
We where eager to eat here but noticed a few things off the spot that didnt seem to justify the price for a 2 person seafood boil. (75$)
The clams are indeed soft shell or “steamer” clams. Although relatively small in size, they are about average.
The clams were already dead before going into the boil. This causes clams to be appear empty or partially empty when served. Dead clams must never be ate as they pose a risk of food poisoning. I of course found out today.
From what we consumed, about half of our clams were already empty (dead) before we consumed them.
The spice was somewhat toned down for our liking as we do enjoy spicy. It was more of a medium. Similar comparison would be like expecting to bite into a habanero but instead receive a pickled jalapeño. Its named “xhot” for a reason but was underwhelming.
Hard boiled eggs are something we all make and could spot when we over and undercook them. The boiled eggs presented to us where tough to the bite and indeed blackening around the yolk.
The vegetables were sufficient for the serving received. About 10 small gold size potatoes, 2 full corn pieces or about 4 half a size yellow corn. Crab was great in our opinion but the clams were the major downside. Sausage was ok, seemed like it was one serving cut up into thin slices.
Overall we paid 100$ for 2 drinks, 2-person seafood boil. For the quality presented, I can’t justify coming here for the near future.
It was severely underwhelming with mild food poisoning as I write this.
Edit: If you check Dona Marina fb page, you’ll see a lot of their clams are wide open and empty. These are already dead clams before they went into the boil. Hence why they are empty or partially empty. Picture for reference from their page that they uploaded. You can check out every seafood picture boil and cross check my claims that the clams they...
Read moreSitting in las Cora's currently ( after leaving dona Maria's) went into dona Maria's for the first time to give it a try and was surprised to feel #1 how cold it was in the restaurant after observation the doors have large gaps to the outside with a lot of cold air coming in. #2 it wasn't busy only one other table waiting for food, as we seated ourselves in a booth it was noticeably dirty everywhere walls, booths, leftover tape on windows and walls, thick dust in fans and lights. We were served a basket of chips and "sauce" it definitely wasn't a salsa, chips tasted horribly stale. After tasting the chips and "mystery sauce" I was ready to leave at that point because I just knew the food wasn't going to be good, but my partner insisted we would order something small and give them a fair chance..... so we decided on the 4 Tacos Dorados ( chicken ) how bad can those be ???? Welll..... after a LONG WAIT they finally arrived at our table and with no surprise I immediately noticed they were burnt! No amount of lettuce, cheese or sour cream was going to hide the dark dark brown tortillas poking out.. but we still didn't give up and with hesitation both my parter and I picked one up to give it a taste and as I looked down the inside of the tortilla was very little chicken mostly empty inside and the chicken was 100% burn 0 moisture left in the chicken completely burnt as well.
We politely put a napkin over the plate, paid for our plate and left ( to never return ).
If you want good food go to Las Cora's located in the Victorian Village strip in wenatchee they have amazing food ( homeade delicious...
Read moreMy family and I were excited to eat here as a celebration dinner. The menu described a well served chimichanga plate with sides of sour cream and guacamole topped with cheese ! I was served a chimichanga with lettuce on the side. My mom’s food was cold then reheated and still cold while lacking flavor. We were a table of five and received two silverware packets. My dad requested that his side dish come before his main dish please. (we were big on manners ) They brought the main dish first and forgot multiple things :/ when I asked the waiter if my chimichanga was suppose to come with cheese he said “no”then “idk I’m not sure I think the menu is a mistype” “I don’t know the menu too well” I kept one menu and showed him and he was dismissive:/ the bill was 140 and we still tipped generously according to the service. then the woman who I believe is the owner came out and asked if everything was okay in a passive aggressive manner. So no this is not a welcoming or friendly restaurant the food was lacking in quality quantity and flavor . The one star is only to...
