Step into history at the General Warren, an inn and restaurant which has welcomed travelers since 1745. It served guests during the American Revolution and today owner and Chef Patrick Byrne has elevated the experience with fine dining and updated rooms. You can still dine just as they did centuries ago—only now, with a few modern comforts. đŸ·đŸ‡ș🇾 #hotels #AmericanRevolution #HistoricInns #pennsylvania #patwd @Chester County, PA tourism

On a trip to visit family, we decided to visit Malvern and the General Warren. The exterior of the Inn is beautiful and the interior is equally stunning. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, charming, and always there to help without being intrusive. His suggestions for the menu were spot on for those that went with them. Our party of 5 had sweet pea toast, the Philly lobster roll, snapping turtle soup, and Kaiser salad for appetizers. We ordered 2 beef Wellingtons, halibut, braised lamb, and the 1747 Sandwich for entrees. Two Key Lime cheesecakes, mocha cake, and ice cream were the dessert. Most of the appetizers were outstanding and so was the bread. The lobster roll was an interesting idea but I do not recommend it unless you deconstruct it, which defeats the purpose. The mains were all superb and the 1747 was perfection in a roll. The desserts were also good, with a sizable portion of ice cream. The cheesecake was unfortunately a bit dry. Overall, I highly recommend the General Warren Inn for dinner.

My family enjoyed our Easter dinner at the General Warren Inn! The dining rooms are charming, each providing a unique, cozy and celebratory atmosphere. The service is impeccable. We appreciated the friendly, comfortable and professional interaction with our server, as well as his recommendations for what to order. For my entree, I enjoyed the bistro steak. It was delivered exactly to temperature (rare). The demi glacĂ© was tasty, but I could have used less of the sauce, plus a good char and more seasoning on the steak itself (and yes, I mean simply salt and pepper as that’s all a good cut of meat really needs). The stand out dishes for our party included the halibut special, which was flaky, tender and excellently cooked. The Easter special of lobster claws and waffles was also very well received as a strong nod to brunch, even though the portion could have been larger. Don’t sleep on the dessert here. The carrot cake was delicious, plentiful and clearly made in house.

Thank you Patrick and the entire service /bar staff at the Inne for a wonderful wedding! We had our wedding at the General Warren Inne (Jan 2nd). From wedding planning to the wedding ceremony to the reception dinner and to our stay in the main suite, everything was perfect! Patrick was most accommodating in helping us make all of our arrangements. The on-going communication and follow-up was exceptional. The wedding ceremony and the cocktail hour were downstairs in the enclosed courtyard. The setting was great for both. Patrick allowed the holiday decorations to remain in the lower courtyard which added to the warmth of the ceremony. The General Warren had us pick a menu specific to our desires and tastes. We were allowed five appetizers and five entrĂ©es. A special menu was printed and placed at the setting of each guest. In planning the reception, the hors d’oewres were selected by staff to compliment the appetizers and the dinner entrĂ©es. We chose the Inne’s pastry chef for our cake (although we could have had it brought in from a bakery.) The reception and dinner were great; both food and service receive a five star rating! (The Beef Wellington and crab cakes received raves by our guests. And the grandchildren were happy with chicken fingers & fries) We selected a harpist (D. Cooper) from the Inne’s recommended list – her music was enjoyed by all. Our guests including the two young grandchildren were treated royally! Patrick helped get our quests get to their cars and on their way as this was the evening of the snow storm. And finally, we enjoyed the excellent accommodations. We had breakfast the next morning and were on our way.We both agree we made the correct choice in selecting the General Warren! We definite...

This historic property is lovely with only 8 rooms. We stayed in the smallest room on the third floor and looked in to see almost all the other rooms. We had more than enough space a sitting area with fireplace, a comfortable bedroom and spacious bathroom. The building and grounds are well maintained and we got to sit on the 2nd floor deck and in the gardens.||The owner was delightful to talk with and he provided us with a brief historical background. All staff in the hotel and restaurant were amazing very helpful and they couldn't do more to help us during our visit.||Our first night our group of four had dinner in the main floor dining room and we all had excellent meals the foods were expertly prepared as ordered and all were delicious. You cant go wrong with any meal ordered off the menu. But someone must order the outstanding lemon cake dessert!||The two of us had to return on our 2nd night to have dinner outside downstairs. The owner set us up for dinner in a small stone structure with a trellis roof. We had a wonderful meal and stayed to enjoy the live music which was being performed.||As mentioned all our meals were delicious and all were enjoyed. We had the salmon, beef wellington, scallops and steak frites. Fell in love with the lemon cake dessert.||Staying at the Inn we got to enjoy the breakfast offerings. Their pastry chef prepares a wonderful assortment of baked goods.||What a wonderful discovery and we had a great visit with amazing meals.||Loved the staff.||Sorry that we live 2.5 hours way but would highly recommend the General for a dinner or a weekend visit.||Greatly...
