Tiffin Indian Cuisine Malvern — Restaurant in East Whiteland Township

Tiffin was my go to for Indian take out when I lived in Philly so I was excited when they opened a location in Malvern. After my recent take out experience, I'm even more impressed with Tiffin than before.

I LOVE that they have Chaat. Tiffin is one of the few Indian restaurants in the area that sells Chaat and it does not disappoint. The serving size of the Aloo Papri Chaat is huge and the chutney flavor is perfection. It is inexpensive making it an amazing value.

The Vegetable Biryani and Chicken Tikka Masala were both very good with nice portion sizes. Tiffin gets the spice level you pick just right. The only thing in my order that I wouldn't get again is the Lachha Paratha- it should be crispy and flaky and it was not. Instead it was just oily and sad. For breads stick with the Naan.

Take out was ready on time and we opted for the eco-friendly reusable containers. I love this concept. You still have the option for disposable containers. But the reusable ones were so much nicer and sturdier than typical take out containers. And while no plastic is great, these containers are made out of plastic that is less harmful to your health. And the best part is that these reusable containers keep your food warmer and make no mess when you open. Recently we ordered from another Indian restaurant and it was a total mess opening the containers. There will be no mess with these containers and leftovers will stay fresher. And they give you plenty of time (28 days) to return them which won't be a problem since I'm always at Wegmans around the corner and this will also give me an excuse to order some more...

Let me preface this by saying that I generally love indian food, and have had a lot of great indian food in NYC, Ohio, Philly, and other areas of Pennsylvania.

Food was just okay.. I was going to give 3 stars, but the rice looked and tasted like it was a day old, even though we ordered at around noon.

The chicken curry was worse than most chicken curries I’ve had.. it was sort of bland, and tasted mostly like tomato and vaguely of spices. Similarly, the channa masala wasn’t well balanced at all - my family said it tasted like dirt, and while I think thats a bit harsh, it definitely didn’t taste like anything special. It had a bit of a grainy texture in the mouth, and tasted strongly of one of the spices, some bitterness, and not much else. Perhaps cinnamon? The onion bhaji was soaked in oil and wasn’t crispy at all. Same with the cauliflower bezule. To be fair we did get takeout, but the cauliflower and onion bhaji were both… soggy? Soft? Almost wet? By the time we got home (which took 8 minutes or so).

Generally these things are forgivable, but the rice? Unbelievable… if it were the end of the day, maybe I would be more forgiving, but right at noon? Just weird.

Rather than come here, I would purchase from your local indian grocer that sells homemade indian food. There are a few, one in Exton and one in KOP, both of which are decent! The exton one is a bit more hit or miss, but can be...

Catering service - We are regular customers of Tiffin Malvern. We have ordered small trays for catering in the past but this time we ordered Large trays of Kaju paneer matar, veg goan currry and veg paneer biriyani. Quality of food was really good and all guests liked the taste. But to my surprise we ran out of food at the end. I realized that the size of the large tray at Tiffin is much smaller than that of other restaurants in the area. (I compared large tray of tiffin Vs other restaurant side by side). This was not appropriate as cost is almost comparable between the two restaurants. I already suggested my other friends to be careful when ordering catering from Tiffin. I reached out to tiffin and the manager understood my point and provided cash back which was ok. He mentioned they have Deep Trays (which are Large Trays for other restaurants). However, the Tiffin catering menu has no mention of this tray size. It currently shows only Small & Large, they should add all the 3 tray size and costing on website in that case.
