Given other reviews, I figured my experience would be hit or miss. It was a big miss, in almost every way imaginable. I was a walk in on a Friday night, and while I’m aware that’s a huge risk in the summertime- the restaurant clearly had several open tables and high tops. I stood at the hostess stand for about 10 minutes before I was acknowledged. Eventually I was seated, to which it took about 5 minutes to get my drink order in. It took about 15 minutes to get an unsweetened iced tea, about 30 minutes to get baked oysters, which were burnt to a crisp. Funnily enough, I stepped from my table for a few minutes upon finishing, and my entree appeared, but they took my cutlery and my unfinished drink. Which I found slightly amusing but annoying was a game I’d play, once I got a new drink, I did finish it, and counted how many times my waitress walked past my table before inquiring if I wanted another drink.
It was 4 times, very awkward for us both.
My entree was lackluster at best, the garlic was plentiful but bitter, I’m not sure I saw a gram of pepper nor tasted any salt.
The kitchen is clearly mismanaged, and front of house is no better. It almost seems as though there is zero training for them. Ironically the staff, from hostesses, and waitress, to the busboys- were all extremely friendly and once I brought to my attention the deficiencies, aside from food, they were relatively prompt and attentive to resolve the matters.
Overall, this place is a gamble, as some reviews are simply glowing, but others warn of the issues I faced. Theres many other reputable local restaurants to go to within minimal driving distance, I’d recommend any of...
Read moreWe went for the happy hour and sat at the center island at the bar. The apps were well priced and a good portion. We however witnessed the male bartender put his finger in his nose, rub his mouth and face , stick his finger in his mouth and then proceed to put his hands on the fruit and straws and glasses and then serve the drinks. We also watched him inappropriately touch the female bartenders by putting his hands just above their chest and ogling them. When I brought up the disgusting handling of drinks to the owner, Caroline, she simply smiled and said" I will take it under advisement " she did not take our concerns very seriously at all. I let her know that I was watching him and she said" well then don't watch". You would think that the owner would then take this person aside and at least tell him what's being watched, say something, but she did not. And We find out later that he is the bar manager! WOW!!! This man should not be behind the bar or anywhere near food or drinks of any kind. And the young ladies behind the bar should not have to be subjected to inappropriate touching or ogling! He was gross and disgusting. It was hot and he was sweaty and kept touching his sweat and never once washed his hands. Our server was very lovely and the food was good. We will go back but we will definitely make sure his hands don't touch...
Read moreI found Caroline's Bar & Grill, a wonderful Eastham eatery, after searching online for a late night bite on the last leg of a 230+ mile trip out to the Cape. When I called, I spoke to Caroline who couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. I played it safe and ordered the Cheeseburger which turned out to be one of the juiciest, flavorful and tastiest burgers I have had in quite some time. The fries were well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The following night, we decided to have dinner again at Caroline's and it was easily the one of the best dinners we've had on the Cape to date. We ordered the lobster roll, oysters, a kid's menu spaghetti and the Sweet and Spicey Stir Fry. The lobster roll was perfectly seasoned and packed full of flavor with every bite, the oysters were fresh and tasty and the spaghetti was quite tasty even for a simple marinara sauce. The Sweet and Spicey Stir Fry was AMAZING! The perfect balance and harmony of flavors of this culinary delight coupled with a very nicely sized portion of shrimp and pasta made this my new favorite dish on the Cape - hands down. I liked it so much that I had the leftovers for lunch the following day. Thank you again Caroline! it was great meeting you and a pleasure to taste your culinary creations. We'll see you next July. - Alexis, Laura,...
