If you want a REAL hero this is the place!
We called to make sure they would be open as we weren't sure of the hours.
Parking was a little tough being they are located near Centre Square. This is to be expected when businesses are in the heart of downtown.
Walking in we were welcomed with a friendly hello from the 3 owners. Each of them on-site and working!
We asked for recommendations being we had never been there before.
We went with 1 of the most popular: #4 The Italiano Ham, Genoa Salami, Capocollo, Pepperoni, Provolone, Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Oil & Vinegar, and Spicy Red Pepper Relish
1 bite in and you knew this was going to be delicious. The taste of the meats with the provolone and that spicy relish. YUM!!! I almost regretted splitting it with my husband lol.
The bread was soft/fresh & the shop was very clean.
I thought the prices were reasonable for the quality & amount of meat on the hero.
We enjoyed our hero as well as the service and friendliness.
They have a wide selection of heros. You can create your own, they have platters, rice balls, vegetarian options, salads & desserts. They also do catering
Oh and they are BYOB (which now we know for next time).
Looking forward to going back to my new hero shop and trying some more!
Definitely give them a try!
We absolutely loved this quaint little hero shop
*5/2022 Updating to say... Every time you go in, you will leave knowing this is by far the best place to grab a hero!! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My favorite is...
Read moreVegetarian review: It's like the Ciao! used up all their creativity points for the names and left the veggie productions as a complete afterthought. They are also VERY SLOW to prepare and serve you the order.
We have two sandwiches, a soup and their Greek fries. It took them 25 minutes to get the first item out - in batches over 10 minutes. By the time the fries came out, we were done with nearly 40% of our sandwiches and there we 4-5 workers looking 'furiously' busy the whole time.
My buddy got their pastrami and I their veggie w/thousand island and spicy mustard. Both were kinda boring in taste and at some point, we felt we were eating just to finish up. Yes, their sandwiches are big for the price but get boring in flavor after a point and we lost all inital excitement.
The broccoli cheddar was decent and a bit on the less viscous side but I like mine that way.
The biggest bomb were the Greek fries - they just threw a bunch of ingredients that qualified it as 'Greek' but didn't work together. Fries (seasoned w/cayenne) + crumbled feta on top of the fries + a garlic dipping sauce. Good luck figuring out how to eat the feta cheese with the fries.
This is not a repeat place.
Bonus: The toilet is very nice and clean and so are the eating tables. However, I don't know why they have counter seating because all you see while eating are the backs of...
Read moreFirst time coming to this place, and I was sadly disappointed. The place is called Ciao!, so, of course, I came to try an Italian sandwich. Customer Service: I wasn't greeted or anything when I walked in, no one even noticed me. I stood there for a few minutes before asking where my food was because I ordered in advance, and the app said my food was ready. Unbeknownst to me, it was right on a little pick up station by the door, and the guys tone wasn't welcoming or helpful when he pointed it out.
Food: Sadly, this was one of the worst prosciutto sandwiches I ever had, the #1. I have been to many Italian Deli's in NY and NJ, and a typical prosciutto sandwich is my go to. The flavor was on point, but some of the prosciutto was cut too thick. It was horrible. I tried to eat it, trying not to throw up in between bites, while choking on rough chopped meaty chunks of chewy prosciutto. Towards the end, I had to throw some of it out. Idk who is in charge of slicing, but somebody please train the workers. And my drink was room temperature... Next time, I'll try an American sandwich from this place. Just to give it a...
