My boyfriend and I usually eat here every other week and itās perfect. So I figured I would have myself a birthday dinner with my family and friends. EPIC FAIL!!!! Saturday (1/15/2022) I planned to have had a birthday dinner at InJapan. It was for 30 people. I made the reservation in December 2021. Everything was fine or so I thought. The day before the dinner, I called to confirm the dinner. Everything was a go. The manager called me on the day of the dinner to confirm the dinner. He informed me that my entire party had to be present to be seated. Ok, Everything was set! My entire party was at InJapan by 6:35pm. I walked in and told the young lady that the party of 30 was here for the dinner. She said people were still eating and it would be ready at 7pm. Which was totally fine. 7pm came around and she says to me and my party āitāll just be 5 more minutesā okay. My party was standing outside in the freezing winter air because the manager and the hostesses kept saying ā5 more minutesā at this time it was 7:30pm and no one was moving. I asked yet AGAIN! The manager said he couldnāt make the people get up. But the sign on the wall, door and counter stated āyou only have 1hr and 30 minutes from the time you sit down to be done and you would have to leave due to the staff shorting and wait linesā but the manager continued to say he could not do anything. I explained to one of the hostess that I made the reservation well over a month ago and that I specifically asked for 7pm. I had people that traveled out of town. She told the other hostess that I should have set reservations online and it would have been quicker. My party that had 7pm reservations, were not seated until 8pm. The staff were very rude to me and my party and the manager doesnāt have the skill to manageā¦..especially in a large busy setting. It was definitely poor management and unprofessional staff. Hope it...

We celebrated my sonās 14th birthday here this evening. And all went well, the food was great as usual. The chef was very interactive with the group of children.
Things took a turn, at the end of the evening when the waitress by the name of Murphy, came over and addressed me regarding her having to share her tips with the staff, including the chef. The waitress was not subtle or discreet with this conversation. I shared I had tipped the chef prior to. Murphy proceeded to question me asking āhow much did you tip himā⦠to which I asked her āis that something you need to know?ā⦠very unprofessional and distasteful. She shared āso do you want me to share my tip with him them?, referring to the chef. To which I shared , her employers procedure regarding tip has nothing to do with customers who patronize the business. Not to mention this was inappropriate given we were there celebrating my childās event. For context, the waitress received her tip as gratuity which was included on each bill. Any additional tip I had considered leaving outside of gratuity , I did not, due to her behavior and approach.
The manager , Sam, was informed. He was really apologetic with respect to the waitresses behavior. He shared he would address Murphy , waitress, later that evening at the team meeting. And I do hope this is done, your servers should be aware of the tip structure and should not weigh customers down nor complain about how they are required to split their tips while on the job.
This restaurant I do enjoy, but staff can make or break a business. As I have never had an issue prior to. I have frequented this restaurant many times over the course of the years, celebrated many other occasions here. However, I have never experienced an outburst such as that from staff at an establishment , it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreServer touched my arm in a way that wasn't really to my liking. Told my date that it made me uncomfortable, then the server did the same thing to her and made her feel uncomfortable! Now I understand that some people are "just that way", and I understand this server was female, but this server might want to step into the 2000s and realize people don't like their arm weirdly touched and rubbed when asking about water. Creepy. Furthermore, I understand it was busy, but to leave two empty water glasses unfilled on three visits to the table, and then upon noticing it only fill one glass up is just poor understanding of basic table needs. Food was pretty average. Great job to the chef for cooking steak properly and being very nice and accommodating! The attraction the a hibachi style dinner is some of the flair that goes into it, but InJapan lacks some showmanship. At least spin an egg or something. š. The fire and "juggling" of utensils was pretty standard, but we just weren't blown away. Front staff were very nice. Sushi rice was very underwhelming and seemed underseasoned, but the salmon and tuna itself were fine. Rolls made well and cucumber was fine. Uni and Saba sushi were the worst that I have ever had, ever. Might just want to take those off the menu. I've had Uni and Saba at many places and I really tried to try my second bite to see if it was maybe just a little off on the first bite and I know it is an uncommon order, but why should I have to go that far into my reasoning for a second bite of sea urchin? It just was the worst that I've had. Same for the mackerel. We ate all of our food. Not the worst place. Would still eat here again. Just not my favorite place. Hope this helps other potential diners. Try it out. Let them know if it...
