The food here is consistently good, for the most part, and my wife has the most gluten free options for breakfast of any place that we go to. However, and this is big, they have been in business for a while now and they still operate as if they have no idea what to do with a crowd. Every single time we go there, they always seem shorthanded, and not just by one staff member. Customers mill around at the door in an area with no real room to do so while empty tables go un-bussed. They finally seat you and it's 50/50 whether you will get acknowledged within 10 minutes for your drink order. They finally bring you your drinks and then it's 50/50 whether someone completely different will eventually take your order maybe 15 minutes later. And then you'll wait maybe a half hour, 45 minutes before the food finally shows up. And this is breakfast food, nothing too complex. The last time I was there all of this occurred while the owner (not sure if he is Em or J) literally just stood there and did nothing to help. I'll say this, I've never had RUDE service there, but just completely incompetent overwhelmed service just about every time. As I said, their food is good (one exception - they have THE WORST orange juice I have ever tasted in my life), but I can get food elsewhere that may be nearly as good but I'm paying the check in less time than it takes to even get the food at Em-J's. Em and J, if you're reading this, do better with your staff, because no food is worth this...
Read moreFantastic. We were greeted right away and sat right down on a Saturday 8am. The coffee was fresh and hot. The menu was very large for a breakfast place but I knew I wanted the Carrot Cake Waffle. I mean- come on!!! My dining companion had avocado toast because he's vegan and he gets frustrated with avocados at home so he's happy to order them out and have them be someone else's problem. The waffle was great- with real carrots in it. Warning- it did have raisins. I know that's a deal breaker for some carrot cake people. But the cream cheese drizzle was yummy! The service was quick. The food was great. The place was clean. And the atmosphere was super friendly and chill. Families started to come in as we were leaving - the bunny pancake was apparently a hot menu item. We paid less than $35 including tip. Why go to those other breakfast places like FW or Nudys? This...
Read moreFantastic breakfast, hands down, the best in the area for cream chipped beef. I ONLY eat cream chipped beef at 2 locations thus far, and EmJ's in tone of two. They also have fantastic daily specials that I have had and are top-notch. The cinnamon swirl or pumpkin pancakes are delicious. Pricing is average but not too pricy for the quality of food. Down side for me, they do not carry Thomas's English muffins for an egg sandwich, but I have had an egg sandwich on a bagel, and it was 7 out of 10. Parking is not great during peak hours but if you don't mind walking it is fine. Lastly, the size of the restaurant is a little small, but I have never waited more than 10-15 minutes for a table. Overall, EmJ's is my top breakfast pick in the area for me. Remember to get the cream chipped beef. You will NOT be...
