It was a cloudy day in early April (2024) and on a lark we decided to swing by Keefer Court, check it out, see if their opening-week blues had gotten resolved. Yep, itâs great, just like the old West Bank storeâs food.
We only grabbed 3 items to split - egg custard, sesame mochi ball, and a curry beef bun. Thâ egg custard was lovely, intensely eggy and buttery flakey, delicious and excellent! The deep fried mochi sesame ball was surprisingly great, the inner core of red bean paste was perrrfect, not grainy or beany at all, sweet but not too much, the mochi inners just the right chewiness and tenderness, with a fried and crusty sesame-seed skin really complementing the inner fixings with just the right toasted sesame crunch. Excellent! I thought the curry bun was very good too, at first thinking the curry center was skimpy, but actually pretty generous, even though not noticeably meaty. Good curry beef flavors anyway. The surrounding bun was very fresh and beautifully browned, so overall really very good. Prices were around $4 for each item, a nice price for very good quality food.
We hit the place right after a big crowd left at 3PM, and some shelves were empty, but thankfully everything was, as I say, really fresh. They were out of the char siu bao BBQ pork buns, otherwise I wouldâve gotten one of those.
I was a touch worried that late on a slow Tuesday, stuff would have gotten stale, but nope, we were very happy. Didnât wait around to see the shelves get restocked, wish I had more time. Certainly will be going...

This place is great and pretty comparable to Chicago's Chinatown Chinese bakeries. We were unfortunately not able to try out the pineapple buns as those were the first to run out. A big, big fan of the steamed buns as the employees are happy to help with warming those right up for you and I must say, that is such a game changer!
The employees are welcoming and excited to help! All in all, I will be back especially to try out the pineapple buns! Would recommend!

Read moreI was craving Asian pastries so I came here on my lunch break. They didn't have the Chinese paper-wrapped sponge cakes but they had many other goodies. Makes sense as most of their menu was Vietnamese. Their selection is much smaller than other Asian bakeries in the area but I think they make up for it in quality. As with other similar shops, you grab a tray, a tray liner, and some tongs before making your selections from the display cases.
I got there at 11:30am so almost everything tasted fresh. The custard bun, buttercream horn, and savory sticky rice dumpling were the perfect texture, flavorful yet not too sweet for the desserts, and fairly priced for the size. Generally, everything is half that size in Asia, but they're marketing to a mostly American crowd. The only thing I don't recommend is the BĂĄnh Bò Nưáťng--a steamed honeycomb cake. The pandan flavoring was extremely artificial and it somehow tasted like old cooking oil. However, if you're looking for a savory snack please try their Sticky Rice Dumpling stuffed with pork. So, so good! It closely resembles my Mom's so I will definitely be coming back for that, the cream horns,...
