L’étoile Restaurant provides an exceptional upscale dining experience within a beautiful setting, both indoors and outdoors. Located inside the hotel, the ambiance is perfect for an intimate dinner or a family outing. The hostess and staff were friendly and professional, making the evening even more enjoyable. I began my meal with the pan-seared, spice-crusted fresh La Belle Farm duck foie gras, which was honestly the best foie gras I've ever tasted. The charred factor added a unique twist, enhancing the flavor without overpowering the delicate texture, allowing the foie gras to still melt in your mouth. For the entrée, I chose the étuvée of 1 1/2-pound Menemsha lobster, a dish bursting with flavor. The sauce, highlighted by roasted garlic, truly made the lobster shine. To finish, I enjoyed an espresso martini, one of the best I've had in a long time. This version used chocolate liquor, offering a delightful twist on the classic drink. While I wasn't a fan of the "Matcha My Freak" and "Whistle While You Work" cocktails, I suspect it was more due to my personal taste preferences. Despite this, I am eager to return and try other drinks on the menu. Overall, L’étoile Restaurant is a fantastic location for an elegant dining experience. I highly recommend it for those seeking a sophisticated meal in a picturesque setting.

My husband and I had dinner at l'etoile for our wedding anniversary and we're impressed by the restaurant's ambience, food, and level of service. Food: - Braised short ribs ($22) were delicious but it was the maple-smoked cheddar polenta that temped us to lick the plate clean - Lamb chop ($52) was delicious, no gamey-ness at all. The accompanying spinach and roast tomato grape leaf tartlet seemed random but was very tasty! - Lobster ($68) was delicious, as was the pasta. That said, this entree was spendy. Ambience: Like many businesses in Edgartown, this restaurant is in a house, with seating on the front lawn on Adirondack chairs, inside in tastefully renovated rooms with mood lighting, or outside under a semi-permanent tent that still has tables dressed with white tablecloths and decorated as tastefully as the restaurant's indoor dining tables. Service: The staff were very friendly, attentive, well-trained, quick with the water refills, and not too stuffy or pompous. We felt very welcome! Parking: Street parking only, which can be hard to come by in the area, even during the off season.

So, good ratings and reviews means high expectations. It’s not bad but nothing great either...and it is not french. It is American cuisine and it is bland. I guess it is easy to say it is french to bring more customers and justify the steep prices. The only french influence, maybe, is the choice of entrées. I had the lobster fritters to start. So little lobster in them no one could guess it had lobster at all if not for the name. It was basically fried dough (definitely NOT french). Next I had the duck breast. Not too bad but under seasoned and dry. What it came with was kinda okay but again, NOT french! I ate at the bar and, even though it was busy, the service was good. Definitely the highlight of the evening. I am going somewhere else for dessert.

My response to your less than accurate account..... The reason the cancellation was last minute was because that's when we knew of the positive test and exposure so you obviously don't "understand" when someone cancels due to Covid. Either that or you're implying that I'm not being truthful to which I take great offense. At the time I did think it was none of "her" business. The fact is she (manager) was impatient, never asked me the reason for my cancellation and also wouldn't get the owner on the phone when I asked to speak with him. And your leaving out another important fact and that is ... she (manager) told me I would NOT be charged if you filled our two seats that night. Well I checked later that night and you did fill our two seats and the owner confirmed that you were fully committed. Saying that she (manager) was less than helpful is and understatement. Lastly I get to say what and when my private information can be made public so it's NOT ironic at all. The fact is that this was a good time to let the public know how you treat your customers especially the fact that it has to do with Covid. The misstep is yours for NOT owning up to your mistake, NOT correcting the situation and just doing the right thing. The blame rests solely on you ...SHAMEFUL ! There are many other very good restaurants in Edgartown and I had to cancel quite a few other reservations. letoile was the only one who ignored my Covid situation. My advice is that customers should keep this in mind when making future reservations.

I've been to l'etoile many times and the food and service has always been "ok" however I will NEVER be returning. After my friend tested positive for Covid (and I was exposed) on the morning of our dinner reservation I called the restaurant to cancel. I spoke with a "less than helpful" woman who said it would cost me $100 for a "NO show fee". After getting nowhere with her and after she refused to put the owner on the phone I decided to email the owner who has not even had the decency to respond. In these times when everyone is so hypersensitive to Covid I find it impossible that I did the right thing in cancelling our reservation and l'etoile choose to punish us for it. Also not sure how cancelling a reservation could be called a "no show fee" . How does l'etoile choose to keep $100 instead of keeping a loyal customer. I will not support a restaurant that will not support their community. A quick Amex dispute will...

Lovely lovely restaurant. I think they have a bar indoors and some seating there, but the main restuarant is in the garden. Its in the Sydney hotel but I didnt see a lot of hotel guests dining in the garden.

Lets start with the place, which is just truly lovely. I loved the outdoor patio where you can sit for a drink, its a circular terrace/ veranda and feel like you are really in savannah. The drinks were great too, I had the peach martini which wasnt super sweet, so I recommend it. The dining area is a garden, covered on top, with lots of fairy lights and balloon lanterns. I would come just to sit in here.

The food was incredible, shout out to the steak and the rack of lamb, both cooked to medium rare perfection. The halibut didnt win too many stars, and neither did the veggie crepes, but the cheese was good in terms of variety. They do have a tasting menu as well but we chose a combination of entrees and apps instead.

Big big points for service. All the wait staff was excellent with us- shout outs to Vlad and Caroline who were the nicest people- and the manager was good enough to check in on us as well. Made for a lovely evening. They were good with helping my friends navigate the menu too- one has severe allergies and the others are vegetarians. Be warned that they take a cc for groups of 6 or more and there is a cancellation fee if you dont inform them more than 24 hours in advance- however, they did call and confirm the number of people and reservation twice before so

I'll definitely be back when on the island. thanks for...
