Best bookstore on the island! The staff made us feel so welcome as I strolled in on a rainy day with my enthusiastic 3 year old. The children's section is a mix of classic and modern books. There is an awesome little spot to sit and explore books with kids. My son was extremely taken with a children's book about making pancakes. When I returned alone the next day, the woman recognized me from the day before and asked if I was back for the pancake book! So awesome that she remembered us (and didn't care that my son had been slightly loud the day before). I enjoyed exploring the upstairs adult section before making my purchase. Definitely a great place to stop by...

Nice little store. Good selection and well set out, especially the children's and teens' first floor. Loved the staircase! Rather fixed on NOT reading the books before buying, which makes you a little on edge if wanting to check the writing of a new author. Probably this is management's diktat - wouldn't blame staff (seasonal college students from overseas). Personally I managed to browse through a book before buying it for myself, and thorough another for my daughter, which I didn't buy because unsuitable. Nobody stopped me!...

I have been here each time I visit Edgartown. I walked in today (Memorial Day 2023). Today, the older woman at the front didnt greet me. She stayed focused on the young girl redecorating a new table display. I wasnt feeling the vibe today. I left without buying the sticker I wanted. But dont let that deter you. It has a nice selection of books. Ive seen another reviewer say snippy salesperson too. Just look past any rudeness. I’ll try for another person before I head back...
