I had one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had at Lucky Hank’s in Edgartown. From the very beginning, it was a disaster. When we arrived, we were told the wait would only be about 15 minutes. Instead, we ended up waiting well over an hour before even being seated. What made it even more frustrating was that several tables sat empty, clearly set up and ready for customers, yet the staff still refused to seat us. We weren’t the only ones—other parties were also left waiting far beyond what they had been told. Once we were finally seated, things did not improve. It took over an hour just to get our meals, and when we did order, the waitress actually laughed at us while we placed our order—completely unprofessional and extremely rude. Waiting an hour and a half for food would have been bad enough, but when the food finally came, it was cold, tasteless, and just plain horrible. For the price point and reputation of this place, the quality was shocking. To make matters worse, the restaurant itself was filthy. The tables and floors looked like they hadn’t been properly cleaned, the silverware we were given was smudged and dirty, and the final straw for me was when I found what looked like dirt or some kind of drain residue at the bottom of my coffee. Absolutely unacceptable. Throughout the whole experience, the staff was unfriendly, dismissive, and seemed more interested in brushing off customer concerns than actually fixing anything. The manager showed no leadership or effort to make things right. This was not just a bad meal—it was an overall miserable experience that ruined part of our day on Martha’s Vineyard. Between the outrageous wait times, rude service, dirty conditions, and disgusting food, I would never recommend Lucky Hank’s to anyone. There are far better places to eat on the island where you’ll be treated with respect and actually...
Read moreWe were led here by the great reviews on yelp. Unfortunately, I did not experience any of the positives that the other reviewers had. We had actually driven passed this place because it looks like a small house rather than a restaurant. Once there, we waited about 25 minutes for a table on a not so busy afternoon by New York standards. We had a table in the back which wasn't air conditioned. Not fun on a 90-100 degree day. Our waitress was attentive and had our orders and drinks quick but this is where things go from meh, to worse.
Most of us ordered the Vineyard Benedict, a couple had salads and one had crab cakes. As expected the salads came out rather quickly but that's where service seemed to stop. We were left in the heat with our now warm beers and drinks still waiting on food for over 45 minutes. It finally came out moments after we inquired about it. Unfortunately, that's when things got even worse. The eggs were overcooked. Benedicts weren't runny. Over easy came out hard boiled. English muffins were as hard as a weapon. We told our waitress and she apologized profusely and asked the kitchen to expedite replacements immediately. Within 10 minutes, we all had our new food which makes me wonder why the first batch took 45 minutes to send out. Sadly, the food was mediocre at best.
Maybe it's the New Yorker in me, but I don't believe anyone should have to wait over 45 minutes for a mediocre eggs benedict. If this is one of the best restaurants on the Vineyard, I'm going to bring my own food next...
Read moreThis cute little house brings warm feelings to your chest from the moment you see it. Anyway, so my husband and I trekked here one morning and were quickly greeted and seated with our drink orders taken (OJ, delicious; coffee, strong). I ordered the Oak Bluff Omelet and my husband ordered the Lobster Benedict. Both were AMAZING. The flavors in my omelet complimented each other so well (they even serve local eggs) and, I am the first to say I do not like home fries, but these were SO GOOD. My husband is crazy about hot sauce and when he asked for some, he was quickly brought homemade green sauce that was delicious. We struggled to eat it all as our heads were pounding from the night before, but we wish we had one more day to come back and try it again. I also ordered the short stack and they were cooked perfectly, were light and fluffy, served with an appropriate amount of powdered sugar and pared well with our more savory dishes. If you're on the island, make a point to stop in at Lucky Hank's. You'll love its quaint charm, its simplistic décor and patio seating and feel right at home! The pricing is average compared to the rest...
