We are D&B regulars in Maple Grove but decided to go to D&Bs in Edina yesterday—our Easter visit. The entire place has been remodeled and it’s definitely a step up in atmosphere/ambiance and lighting. It has a much FRESHER vibe. Gone are the booths that wrapped around the bar with the walls so high wait staff can’t see you. I never realized how dark and cave-like this place actually was until I saw the refresh. Lighting is majorly improved!
The bar area is much more open, modern and brightly lit. 20 flat screens make it a sports fans dream. You have no sense of eating in a dark “bar” area so it’s much more family friendly. My attraction to watching sports is extremely idiosyncratic (e.g., golf, hockey, triathlon, maybe boxing). Looking at this set-up, I kinda wish I liked watching football and baseball. 😆
GAMES: If you’re going, you’ll find some of the games in different areas. The racing games are now on the right side of the entrance near the rest rooms. That is always “home” for us. The games on the left side are now separated from the bar area with a wall so the noise level seemed better. Not sure how to categorize the games on this side except to say “not racing games.” There is still a Party Room in the rear of this area and another one added to the dining area.
FOOD: We always have lunch before we play and the food seemed better than usual. I had a fantastic Smashed Burger from their Eat/Play menu and it was AMAZING. My son had the Fish & Chips with great crispy fries. He also ordered a NEW Brownie Bites Desert that could easily make 2-3 people happy. Wow. They’ve added a few kid-friendly non-alcoholic drinks (think “Sota”) and my son was thrilled.
During the course of our meal, we had TWO people ask us how we were doing? how was our meal? in addition to the server. That’s a nice touch in any restaurant.
My only negative was that when we sat down we had so many menus! There was the regular food menu, the Eat/Play menu (like 3-4), a Mommy & Me promo schedule (asked Sam if he wanted to go with me? lol) and a stand-up table promo of the new desserts and drinks. Should we study before we come? Just might be better to consolidate “all that.” It was a lot to receive at once. Like an archeological dig to decide on your meal. Otherwise, it was...
Read moreNot bad. Had fun but had to give them 3 stars because they still don't put my points on my account. I had a very young kid trying to help at the register, all she did was confuse me. After about 30 mins of setting up an account, I still didn't get my free bonus points for setting up the app for the 1st time and also the app doesn't show I made a purchase under receipts. The thing is that I noticed I wasn't receiving points and explained this to the manager and she said she would put the points for the purchase on my account. She asked for my phone number, which I gave. And a month later, still no purchases, under receipts, on the app. Also some of the games will charge you twice. I noticed this when I would swipe on a game and then it would say it didn't swipe, but on the itinerary on the machine, it shows that it was swiped twice. Other than that it was okay.
Update: They still hadn't put points onto my card. This is the third time spending a few bills and I still not getting points? I talked to Noah (I had to get the name from the other manager because Noah didn't wanna give me his name) and Noah actually made me chase after him cause he didn't want to "deal" with me. I spoke to him when I first entered Dave n Busters and since then he started to have attitude. I know you guys deal with a lot of ghetto people however that doesn't mean you have to act rude. If I'm dropping a few hundred and you act like that's nothing, I will just take my few hundred somewhere else. Or is it cause I'm not white so my money isn't good enough?? And seeing from other reviews, it seem you need to get your act together and hire better staff that's not subconsciously racist. Your machines were not working. Games were down and malfunctioning. I was getting charged and not allowed to play. All the machines to check the activity of the card were down. When I voiced my concerns, Noah dismissed them like he didn't care. Im not sure why they have little kids as managers. Learn customer service and if you don't like your job, find another job. Or go to school and get a career. Tbh I think after I finish the money on the card I'ma boycott Dave and busters. Rather go to Chucke cheese...
Read moreThis was the worst bartending I’ve ever seen. (Coming from a bartender of 10 years) Matthew was DRUNK, so DRUNK. (I know his name because I asked) The first bartender charged me for a Tito’s vodka upgrade when I order a White Russian. He gave me my tab and when the other bartender came over, I said “hey what’s your rail vodka?” And he showed me (it was not Tito’s) so I replied with “why did I get upcharged for Tito’s in my White Russian then?” And he said “I didn’t pour it so I don’t know why you’d be asking me” and my reply was “I’m asking you because I did not say I wanted to upgrade to Tito’s, so I want to you to fix it on my tab” he said “well what did he pour?” (Like that’s relevant?) I said “he probably poured a Tito’s, but again, I didn’t say I wanted the $4 up charge so I need you to fix it.” He snatched the receipt away and changed the bill. He then talked to the other bartender who poured my drink, and that bartender came to me and explained why he charged my drink the way he did. Great. His answer made sense, he was respectful and he’s an angel. Matthew on the other hand is the one who came to collect my payment from me, and I decided to try to talk to him bartender to bartender, so this issue didn’t get escalated further. Guess what, ya boy double downed and cut me off when I said I would never talk to a guest the way he talked to me. This man started raising his voice all drunk like I was in the wrong. Said he’s “not dealing with this” so I asked for a manager to talk to. The manager was okay, listened to my experience and said okay and walked away. (During our conversation Matthew weirdly walked up into it, and I said “why’s he trying to have beef with me?” And he drunkenly said “I’m just making sure you’re telling the right story” …okay weirdo that’s not how restaurant complaints work? Anyyyywayyy) There was no apology from the manager. When I was walking out, Matthew was wiping the bar top next to my seat and I asked “Matthew how drunk are you right now” and he replied with “hammered, I don’t know...
