Food was good. For a build your own experience for salads and burgers, missing some key items. My biggest issue was the never ending upsell by our server. Every interaction was an upsell. That wouldn't have been so bad but she forgot the basics like refills on soda and waters, asking us if we needed a to-go box. But don't worry, she didn't forget once to ask about the upsell sour cream or upgrade from side to appetizer fries or adding upcharge toppings to a menu salad. Funny, she never bothered with something that didn't generate revenue. All upsells were mentioned without pricing. Bill came and upgrade for a veggie burger was listed at $4. Only the impossible burger is suppose to be an upgrade and that was $2. I didn't bother to correct her. The manager brought out half the food, our to go box and refills she forgot. Bill was $100 for 4 people having 2 sodas and basic meals. On average she added $8/person of upgrades. Not sure if this is normal training or if this server was padding her tip. It had the opposite effect though. Curds were wet with oil (cooked in low temp oil) Bbq chicken 🍕 was great Frenchie onion soup was bland and 80% bread 2 salads and dressings were good Veggie burger was great flavor minus the incorrect $4 upcharge Would love to speak with a manager about the experience if this is a server specific issue. If the upsell is part of the training, I just won't bother to be back and I'd warn others to stay away.

Visited Tavern on France while in Edina. The indoor space looked really nice and comfortable, but since the weather was better than what we’re used to in Arizona, we decided to sit outside. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the best idea—the patio is surrounded by cottonwood trees and the debris was falling constantly. The location is also right off France Avenue, so while it seems quiet at times, it can suddenly feel like you're dining on the side of a freeway when traffic picks up. We started with the cheese curds, which were extremely greasy and doughy, surprisingly flavorless without adding a good amount of salt and pepper ourselves. For our entrées, we split the build-your-own burger and the spicy chicken sandwich. The burger, ordered medium-rare, came out well-done. The “caramelized” onions were more like lightly sautéed transparent strips. I added onion rings as a side, which the server said were a top pick, but they tasted like something from a subpar fast food spot. The chicken sandwich was labeled as spicy but had no real heat or flavor to it, just a heavy fried oil taste. The waffle fries, also recommended, were bland and oily. Honestly, Chick-fil-A fries are significantly better. We ended up barely eating half of either sandwich. All in all, the setting (especially inside) has potential, but the food just didn’t meet expectations at all. A really underwhelming experience, and unfortunately, we wouldn’t return for the food.

My colleagues and I came here for a work dinner and I had the intention of leaving a review after trying all the food here, and my hunch was correct, because the food wasn't spectacular but was good enough for a work occasion. I did enjoy some of the drinks that they offered during happy hour, but I failed to take pictures of them. In terms of food, almost everything was good enough. One common theme was that all the vegetables were either sloppily made or they were greatly reduced in comparison to the photos that accompanied their menu. For the walleye and the top sirloin, all the zucchini bits and yellow squash bits were undercooked and therefore too hard. The terikayi salmon had a lof of teriyaki sauce that made the entire dish salty, and the salmon was slightly overcooked at the bottom, since it created quite a bit of crunch even if it was a skinless piece of salmon. All of the desserts were solid and I especially enjoyed the chocolate cake that they equipped with whiskey butter, providing the dessert with a new set of flavor. My server, Alyssa, was very hospitable and helpful. She patiently helped me pack every single dish and labeled each one with the dish name so I wouldn't have to be confused upon taking the food home. I thought it was a very considerate move and told her that I would include her name in my review, so here it is! Alysa did wonderful!

My review will be based on customer service, the food, and the presentation of the environment (is it consistently clean, etc). Let's jump into the review.

Customer service seems to be the focal point for the Tavern on France, at least it was for me. The waiter was great (I think his name was Nichols, my apologies if I am wrong). He took the time to check up on us, refill our drinks, and did something else that seems trivial but really had a lasting impression on how customer service is done here. It was fairly busy, so the food was taking a long time (which we were okay with). He stopped by our table and told us that he would check in on our food to see what the progress is. While this may seem fundamental, it's actually not done too often (in my experiences at least). Often times the food will come out late with no explanation from the wait staff of why it was late. It's always good to let people know or explain possible back ups (otherwise we tend to formulate our own reasons why we may not be getting our food fast enough). Also writing funny things on our take out boxes (like for brunch and potentially lunch) really adds to the experience and makes things more memorable.

The food brings it down to 4 stars for me. It was pretty solid, I ordered a baked chicken ravioli. The sauce and the ravioli worked pretty well together and they were cooked pretty well. I do have to say the additional layer of parmesan on top really adds an overwhelming amount of umami to the plate, which I think takes away from your ravioli and sauce. The addition of shredded chicken to the sauce surprisingly worked out for my tastebuds, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The portions were also relatively large, which is fairly nice as well. Overall I really enjoyed the dish.

The environment is clean and the temperature inside is perfect. Tables are clean, there is a pretty large bar to the left as you enter. Bathrooms are kept up as well.

After visiting here three times, I would have to say that I recommend coming to this restaurant. They have great happy hour specials, the food is pretty solid, and the customer service is...

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the service I received during my recent visit to Tavern on France. My experience was marred by a series of unprofessional and disrespectful behaviors that left me deeply dissatisfied.

First and foremost, the waiter assigned to our table exhibited a shocking lack of courtesy and professionalism. Not only was their demeanor dismissive and aloof, but they also demonstrated a complete disregard for basic customer service principles. It was evident from the outset that their priority was anything but ensuring a pleasant dining experience for patrons.

Furthermore, I was deeply perturbed by the blatant inconsistency in the enforcement of age verification protocols. While I commend the establishment for prioritizing responsible alcohol service, it was baffling and frankly insulting that only my identification was singled out for inspection. This not only made me feel singled out and humiliated but also raised serious questions about the establishment's commitment to fair and equitable treatment of all guests.

Overall, my experience at Tavern on France was nothing short of appalling. The combination of rude and unprofessional service, coupled with discriminatory treatment, has left a lasting negative impression. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with dignity and respect, neither of which was afforded to me during my visit.

I sincerely hope that this feedback prompts a thorough reevaluation of your staff training and customer service practices. Until such improvements are made, I regret to say that I cannot in good conscience recommend Tavern on...

Arrived a little before 6pm today, was in town on business, grabbing a beer and an appetizer while waiting for some associates to arrive for dinner later. Initial impressions were ok, people were waiting, I asked to sit at the bar. The bartender was friendly and attentive, food arrived quickly and it was good. Things went downhill almost immediately. The bartender left shortly after 6 (happy hour ends) and the bar energy became chaotic. The employee who stepped in to make the drinks was rushed, no idea what those drinks tasted like, employees wandered in and out of the bar area looking confused. I wanted to order a cocktail but not one made that way, I asked for a refill on my water trying to wait out the rush hoping for an actual bartender to arrive. The employee wiping down ALL of the wineglasses smiled and said "sure" but went about his business for the next 10 or 15 minutes, right in front of me, without helping me out. Meanwhile, everyone else at the bar was treated the same way. Service stopped, folks couldn't get their bill and new customers couldn't order. I texted my colleagues that we need to meet somewhere else for dinner. I asked for my bill and told the server that service was non-existent, he was frustrated and said that he just got slammed...like he was the only one that could have helped anyone.

I understand busy. But the restaurant appeared to be staffed for it. When you have other employees that could help but won't, or perhaps were not trained or authorized to help, you're not taking care of...
