Perhaps some feel 5 stars is a bit much, but let me explain why. This is a great example of a "retro" game store, and if you notice, of all the ones that popped up in the Twin Cities, is one of the only stores remaining. In the original mall location, I did have my issues, getting into it with a "know it all kid" that worked there that clearly had zero idea about what he was talking about. But he is gone, perhaps working at a Gamestop now, where that type of employee is common. The new location and staff there are excellent. Great pricing, selection, and customer service. This is one of the stores realizing that the "retro" craze is not what it was, even just a year or two ago, and is pricing right. Not perfect, but definitely good and fair value. I take my 4yr old here often, and we collect Wii games together, it's nice seeing a place that prices them as they should, they also do the same(mostly) for the NES carts that they do have, not seeing a Nintendo game and thinking they can charge $20 for common garbage. If you are a PSP collector, the selection of UMD movies is stellar, same with kids who want Skylanders. If there was one complaint, it is the low number of NES, SNES era games, but, being a store that stocks those games through trade in, this isn't their fault and more so the market around them. But keep checking, the bubble is bursting, people are selling their collections, you will find some gems here. This is a great store, and has gotten better with their time in the mall, adjusting prices accordingly, and as a collector and gamer, I am glad to see a store that isn't pricing off of eBay, mistaking good games for rare games, and thinking every game is a goldmine if it's on...
Read moreWorst trade in experience ever. Stopped in on a Thursday to trade in a well kept, used xbox one system for a used ps2 system with accessories.was told the system worked great, it was recently tested. Hooked it up at home and what do you know, did not run a single game. Called up a few hours later explaining the situation. Was told come in and they could work something out. Stopped in the following day at store opening, they were closed. Sat and waited 45 minutes and still closed. Came back Saturday morning, spoke with Greg. Atleast he tried fixing it for over 20 minutes and could not get it to work. Of course they had no other replacement for the ps2. Was told it seems I was lied to about it being tested and verified by the stores own policy. Asked for my xbox one back, sorry it's been sold, asked about another system replacement, what a surprise they have nothing. Asked about a used controller..nope don't have any, asked for a new controller, shocker... Don't have any. Requested to call the manger about getting my money back, manager flatly refused. So you took my machine, sold me a broken one knowingly, sold my machine, have nothing to replace it with then refuse a cash refund. I now have credit with a store who's employee lied to me and you have nothing in...
Read moreI haven't been to a game shop in a long time with quarantine - I broke that today. I had been to Gamerheadz in the past but not in the past 5 years or so and definitely not since they moved. Very spacious and a nice new layout- doesn't feel empty (there's something to see every few feet from games to displays for systems and a DDR machine?! [wasn't on today but I used it before]) Very clean, staff is friendly. You can usually get a deal, a fair amount for trade ins and with used games prices today you can still grab a couple of CIB GameCube titles for less than $30. Best shop for trade in value too, not quite name your price but they'll work with you especially to move stock. More comparable to Price Charting.com than like a Gamestop ::cough:: I've always felt good with my trade ins. Only got some more commons today and as always they will resurface any game for free that you buy. Tony is a cool guy - didn't see him today but I will be by again for...
