Lin's Express — Restaurant in Edinburg

I decided to go through the drive through yesterday for dinner. A generally pleasant experience at the speaker if not a tad rushed, but on my way to the window I realized I had forgetten to add something to the order. My initial order was sesame chicken with lo mein, and an order of crab ragoons. I get to the window and apologize but explain that I needed to add something to my order. The worker at the window proceeds to scoff at me and even tells me "it's too much food for you". She begrudgingly adds the extra order of lo mein to my order and charges me out. She returned to the window maybe 5 minutes later and basically throws my order out the window at me. Not wanting to go inside and cause a scene, I just let it go. But I get home and as me and my wife are about to serve ourselves, I realize that almost the entire order is wrong. They gave me sweet and sour chicken instead of the sesame, not to mention is was very dry chicken as well. Instead of lo mein we got fried rice and almost as if to try to convince us it was the right type of chicken, they sadly sprinkled a few sesame seeds across one or two pieces of chicken.

I can understand making a mistake and getting an order wrong once in a while but to add poor service to that mix makes it hard to understand. I've been to their other location and the service and food are always excellent, they've even gone the extra mile to make fresh food when it's late and they're closing soon. However, the experience at this location is horrendous and I'd much rather get down at Chopstix and wait the extra time...

I was excited to try this place out with my gf for the very first time, so we went to dine in. Oh, boy was I in for a surprise. I ordered Pepsi as my drink and once I received it, it tasted nothing like Pepsi. It had a weird aftertaste that it almost made me throw up. I told the waitress to get me Sierra Mist instead as I thought maybe it was just the Pepsi that was wrong. Nope! Sierra Mist was also bad. This time it was worse than the Pepsi. I don’t know what was wrong w their sodas but either it was the machine or they had those sodas have been sitting there for a very long time. So right away, bad first impression. I just told the waitress to get me a water. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and my gf ordered the general tso chicken with fried rice as our side. I got my plate first with my rice and went ahead and got a mouthful of rice first. Immediately the rice did not taste good. It had a somewhat bleach bitter taste to it. I left the rice alone and just ate my sweet and sour chicken which was ok. My gf then waited for her general tso chicken for almost 15 mins after I got my food as if somehow maybe the cook forgot about her order. The general tso chicken had more breading than chicken as well, which is terrible.

Overall this place is not good. I don’t understand the few 5 star reviews. You all must not have tasted real Chinese food. Only reason why I’m not giving it a 1 star is because the place was nice/clean and the waitress was friendly. Won’t be...

I really had high hopes for this restaurant because of the reviews, but unfortunately, I did not have a pleasant experience.

My main dissatisfaction with this restaurant was that the bill given to me was not itemized, only a receipt of the purchase, so I wasn’t aware of how much I paid for any items, other than the total. So I can’t even name the dishes I did or don’t like. Or even what I bought.

Besides that, some of the food I ordered wasn’t very pleasant. The shrimp from the human shrimp and another shrimp dish was rubbery and not deveined.

I’m not sure if it came from the boxes or some thing, but the lo mein and a bit of the rice had a disgustingly overpowering chemical taste and smell that it was difficult to get two or three bites in. Completely inedible, I could not force myself to eat any more.

Other than the orange chicken, and the mushroom beef, all of the food lacked flavor, the vegetables from the shrimp dishes were undercooked and wet, and the shrimp tasted old and was over cooked.

Otherwise, the service was very attentive, but I will not be returning.
