Terrible experience!! Never received order for delivery. Got no refund.
Called about 1.5 hours after placing order for delivery (30 minutes after Donato's delivery time in order confirmation). Was told Doordash collected order.
Employee explained they use Doordash to make deliveries "on busy nights" because they only ever "have two drivers" available. The use of doordash was not disclosed in order summary emailed by Donato's.
Won't go back to Donato's. Suggest you avoid.
UPDATE:
I went to the location. Was told by store manager that because they involved Doordash to deliver my order, whether I get a refund is up to Doordash.
To which I responded, I ordered through Donato's website, not doordash.
Let me be clear, yes, I was upset and borderline angry at the fiasco that was ordering delivery through Donato's. I believe justifiably so. BUT, never did I raised my voice or berate the hardworking employees who clearly were struggling to keep up at a newly opened restaurant on a busy night.
Ironically, when I arrived at Donato's, happened to get in line behind the doordash driver Donato's called to pick up my order after I called Donato's (30 minutes after scheduled delivery). The driver appears to have arrived at Donato's at about 7:15 pm (1 hour after my order was to have been delivered).
Once discovered, I slipped the doordash driver some cash for their effort. He promptly left. I then refused to accept 2 hour old pizza and demanded a refund. Was told I'd have to wait for manager. So I got in another line behind others waiting for refunds. I happened to be last in that line.
Once my turn came, the manger clearly was frazzled, upset, and decided to direct that toward me, for having the temerity to show up to the store, 2 hours after I ordered, visibly frustrated, and request a refund. I was essentially informed I had no right to be upset for the shoddy manner Donato's handled my order for delivery. As if it was a privilege to pay for food from what appears to be a third-rate pizza joint.
BTW, as I was waiting, I observed the manger on the quality control line, wiping her nose with the back of their hand while holding a kitchen implement. So yeah, think my family and I were lucky in the end!
UPDATE (2):
Received an email this morning from Asst. Gen. Mgr of Donato's. They refunded my money (thank you!).
The Asst. Gen. Mgr. then proceeds in the email to impugn my character and misrepresent how I interacted with Donato's hardworking employees, in the same manner as last evening.
The overall tone of the email was condescending, obdurate, and defensive. All hallmarks of excellent...
Read moreMy family was so excited to have Donatos! Haven't had it in 2 years. We ordered our pizzas and dessert. The 2 girls in the front were super nice. You can tell they seemed overwhelmed. From the cash drawer not closing, not getting a receipt because that wasn't working, to having way too much staff for the ticket time, and friends distracting the employees. It was hard for them it seemed to keep track of orders and what was going on.
We understand that it's their grand opening week, but our experience has led us to probably never coming back. First expression is everything regardless of new openings or not.
The bathrooms were a mess, so bad that my kids didn't want to use them, no garbage bags, tables were disgusting!! every single one. We cleaned our own table just to sit and eat.
We were there a little over an hour from start to finish. Our dessert came out before anything. One of the cashiers said she would hold it in the window to keep it warm. Then our kids' pizzas were burnt. We wanted to take them back, but the kids refused because they were so hungry waiting for about 20min. (See picture). We got our pizza the founders and there was a hair in it!!! We brought it to their attention, and they said they would make us a new one.
10ish minutes later, we got our pizza and dessert back from one of the managers, I assumed, and it was the same pizza with the hair!!!!! They same cashier tried saying they made our pizza, and instead of throwing it away, they had to leave it in the window since they were not allowed to leave their station!? So you mix up fresh food with contaminated ones??? Make that make sense. They couldn't explain much but insisted it was a new one. They finally agreed to make a new one for us.
The cashier brought out a new one again, trying to explain what happened instead of a manager who was ok talking with them about the situation but couldn't come talk to us personally. She also gave us a free pizza card... which we found ok but kinda disheartening when we spent almost $60 and had issues.
Their air conditioning was leaking all over the restaurant. The couple next to us had issues with their order, too, and was over looked buy the managers. Again, when you see 3 managers and so many employees, you would figure something would happen, but nope... they employees run that restaurant, and it shows.
I hope they iron out whatever kinks they have happening or they will continue to lose business. Sadly, our excitement turned sour, and we don't know if we'll return...

Walking into Donatos Pizza in Edmond instantly brought me back to my childhood in Ohio. Growing up, Donatos was a staple for family get-togethers and Friday nights, and there was something about the smell of their pizza that always felt like home. I remember my dad picking up a couple of pizzas from Donatos after a long week—always the signature pepperoni with its crispy edges and that satisfying, thin crust.
Back then, my sister and I would compete to see who could eat the most slices. It was a game, a tradition, and somehow we always finished the whole pizza. The edge-to-edge toppings felt like a treat; every bite was packed with flavor, with none of that empty crust that other pizzas had. Sitting down at Donatos in Edmond, thousands of miles from my hometown, I felt a wave of nostalgia.
