Update at the end of the review.
They also do have vegan and vegetarian options that are not more expensive than the rest of the menu. According to the menu there also an option for vegan fry oil to prevent cross contact. They also have a very fun beer list to work with including a sour on the menu. I was just doing takeout so I will have to explore that later.
As far as the team goes, they were incredibly helpful and were incredibly excited to answer questions and engage. The food was also absolutely incredible. I ordered the cuban sandwhich, guava and cream cheese empanada, and the coconut lavender lemonade. I also tried the coconut mango hibiscus lemonade as well as all the salsas. The cuban was stellar and reminded me of the food I would get in Florida. It was mildly spicy so if you're sensitive to spice, keep that in mind. The guava and cream cheese empanada was absolutely incredible and fried fresh to order. This is my favorite pastry of all time and it was perfect and my favorite thing I ordered. The coconut lavender lemonade was really well balanced and the lavender added great floral notes without being overpowering. The mango lemonade was also incredible.
The salsas are all pact full of flavor. The mild salsa definitely still has spice to it. If you're sensitive to spice, this is not a spice free sauce. The medium spice salsa was also really well balanced and probably where I would have stopped. The final and spiciest salsa called the yum yum sauce. I was able to taste all of the notes of the salsa so it wasn't just pure heat. I really loved the flavor but it is definitely the spiciest and made my eyes water so if you like spicy, this one is fantastic.
Overall, this seems like a super fun place to go for friends, family and just as a great place to grab some food. I definitely recommend unless you have the sensory issues I mentioned earlier.
Update: The reason I gave 4 stars in my original review was the first thing I noticed when I walked in. The music is very loud and if you have sensory processing issues due to neurodivergency of some kind like autism, I would not recommend ordering food at the location. When I asked if the music was always this loud, I was told by the incredibly friendly and helpful team member that they weren't sure but I should reach out to the owners as they strive to be inclusive as possible. The to go bag actually came with information of how to contact them and a really positive message so I reached out to contact them via email.
They responded back very quickly to my email to them and were incredibly understanding. The music was turned up when it was busier and it sounds like the owner or manager accidentally took the sound control with them when they left for the day. They also said that they would still be willing to turn down the music if asked as well as having outside seating when the weather gets nicer. They were incredibly polite and not judgemental at all. I absolutely recommend this restaurant whole heartedly because the service and food is...
Read moreThe place is newer but it was surprisingly filthy. Every booth and table were soiled with dry food stains and crums. We couldn't find a table that wasn't filthy and had to sit on one of those filthy booths and put the food tray on one of those filthy tables. The staff all looked like they hadn't taken a shower in days nor had they brushed their teeth. The woman at the register touched our food right after handling other customers credit cards and being on the register. The food was terrible!!!! Mexican food is one of my favorite foods and this place managed to ruin tacos, queso, tortilla chips, and guacamole! Our whole order was vegan. The tacos were dripping with oil and barely had any feeling. The vegetable feeling was super low quality (barely any jackfruit, cabbage, and there were like 3 little pieces of shredded carrot in there), the guacamole was insanely salty, browned store-bought guacamole with some old browned real avocado mixed into it, with what looked like old frozen pieces of mango chunks. My goodness! How can they call that guacamole! Blasphemy!!! And the supposed "queso" was a white liquefied soup and insanely salty. The tortilla chips were just oil and salt to the point we only managed to eat a few. Here is the worst part though: even though we only ate our 2 tacos and only had a couple of bites of the guacamole and queso, and only ate like 5 tortilla chips, my husband and I got sick!!! I had acid reflux for the first time in years and he had diarrhea! Their hygiene is not there, and the quality of the food is so horrible! First time in our lives that we got sick after eating in an establishment anywhere in the world! Their prices are unacceptably high for such unacceptable food! Go instead to Oso in OKC! Oso's vegan tacos, vegan enchiladas, guacamole, salsas, and tortilla chips are incredible!
We would give "the fried" taco zero stars if possible!...
Read moreSome of the best flavor profiles you can get in Edmond. Super creative foods that rock my tastebuds. I love the yucca fries and the dill dip. So good.
The one thing I don't like is paying extra for the sauces. The dips and sauces that I want I should be able to get. Dishes come with select sauces that the establishment thinks goes best with said dishes. For example, the yucca fries come with this house mayo ketchup. I should be able to just ask for and get the dill sauce instead of the mayo ketchup because I don't like mayo/ketchup mix. But no, even though I won't eat the mayo ketchup, they still give it to me and then charge me extra for the dill sauce. When ordering they are not even up front about the extra cost. However, they should at minimum be interchangeable. I don't like being nickel and dimed for crap like that in general. I would go more often but I simply can't stand that. I'm actually fine with paying extra for a second sauce like if I've used up all that came with my meal and want a second one. But really they could just incorporate an extra three to five cents more on all items across the menu to make up for the cost and give...
