Unfortunately an overrated pizza restaurant in our opinion. With all the hype within local Facebook groups my wife was extremely excited to try this venue for over a year. Maybe it was just an off night in the kitchen but our experience for our first visit is ultimately our last. We ordered the Dublin Pizza, two Wedge Salads and an order of Meatballs just before a late night rush that hit after we walked in. My wife's salad had mostly wilty lettuce while mine just had a couple wilty lettuce. The $9 Wedge Salad is honestly more of a side salad. The pizza was overcooked and didn't match the advertised pizza image. I will say the actual size of the pizza was slightly larger then what the advertised image made it appear to be. The flavor of the pizza was good but a little on the salty side and the unburnt portions of crust when we could find them tasted nice. The meatballs which didn't show up at the table until at least an hour or more after we had order were horrible and chard. They were so salty my wife had an immediate reaction to the salt since she has a sensitivity to salt. So all we eat of a $9.50 menu item was a single bite each. With this place specializing in pizza we expected the ranch to come in portions larger then a sample size dipping cup which is $1 per serving. While we were waiting for our food we noticed that only one person was operating both the front register and the bar, so those that still wanted to even place an order were left standing around for minutes at a time (5 to 10 minutes) while the bartender tried making drinks and doing other things at the bar in between each order. In general the staff seemed unhappy and acted as though we should already be familiar with how things operate when it was our first time visiting. We did enjoy the alternative 90s music videos playing on the TVs behind the bar. We appreciated and took advantage of the bottled Mexican Coke option. And we enjoyed looking at all the vintage historical pictures of Edmond that decorated the wall. The booth seating was comfortable, they offer bar seating, tables for two that are elevated, and both large and small tables that are wheelchair friendly. They even offer outdoor dining but there are quite a few loud children playing in the area so not the most pleasant area to dine if you don't like the sound of screaming. Lastly we noticed there were wall plugs available under the booth seats which is nice for anyone who needs to charge their phone or...
Read more5 star reviewers….. tell me you’ve never been to Savastano’s without telling me you’ve never been to Savastano’s. This reminds me of Caesar’s pan pan pizza but it is OVERPRICED OVERPRICED. Got a 4 square meat lovers for a whopping $19.50. This would be considered a micro mini compared to Savastano’s small deep dish. The pizza is good, the sauce is good just needs more of it, the crust is spongey good, but the ham has no flavor and is actually invisible on the meat lovers I got tonight. So nowhere on the menu does it say you can build your own pizza however, after ordering I ask why that was and he tells me I can order the cheese pizza $12.50 and add toppings I want from the toppings section. Okay…. So how much are toppings since the price isn’t listed? He claims $1 per topping, so all in all that would mean I’m paying $2 more to just order a Meat Lovers with invisible ham. I would assume alcohol plays a huge factor in most of the good reviews. This will be a one and...
Read moreI've eaten at Woodward Pizza about a half a dozen times now. They are conveniently located in the Ice House Project near downtown Edmond. Their Detroit-style pizza is terrific! Hands-down the best pizza I've had in all of Oklahoma! The atmosphere is great for Gen-X'ers who dig the retro 80's music-videos. They have a nice bar and you can eat inside or out.
However, there are two things I don't care for that keep me from giving this restaurant a five-star rating:
The service has been horrible -- every time. I know all businesses are struggling in the post-Covid world to find people who are willing to work lower-level jobs without CEO pay, so this problem may not be entirely the fault of management. But, honestly, the service is a major turn-off. I only go back because the pizza is SO GOOD.
As is the trend for so many restaurants today, they force you to pay before you eat. Consequently, if you're paying by card, you are expected to tip before you've been served. This leaves the wait-staff completely unmotivated to do a good job, since they've already been paid. Further, I feel like I'm put in the awkward position of having to tip well for what I know will be poor service, or run the risk of some disgruntled and entitled kid messing with my food before it arrives at my table.
I really think if they fixed these two things, they could turn it around. And, I hope they do because their...
