My family and I attempted to dine at Ed’z but were informed it was reservation-only due to spring break. We had no issue with this and decided to order our food to-go. However, less than 15 minutes later, another family of five arrived and was told they could be "squeezed in" by the manager, John. This immediately raised concerns for us, as we had just been turned away.
When we questioned John about this inconsistency, his demeanor became noticeably dismissive. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, he abruptly told the other family they could no longer be seated and then led us to a table with a condescending attitude. He didn’t speak to us directly, didn’t make eye contact, and simply gestured at the table in an almost mocking manner before walking away. The entire exchange was uncomfortable—not just for us, but for other diners who noticed his behavior.
While we can't say for certain what motivated John's actions, the way he treated us compared to the other family gave off subtle racist vibes. His dismissive tone, lack of basic courtesy, and unwillingness to initially accommodate us raised red flags.
To make matters worse, when we received our food, John continued with his condescending tone, and we later realized we had been overcharged. There was no mention of any additional fees on the receipt or posted anywhere in the restaurant. Despite reaching out to the assistant manager, who assured us that the owners would contact us, we have yet to hear back after a week. Their silence speaks volumes.
This was one of the most uncomfortable and disrespectful dining experiences we've ever had. We would not recommend Ed’z, and we hope management takes this as an opportunity to address their customer service and...
Read moreWe discovered this spot during our summer vacation to Vail. It's about 15 mins outside of Vail in a town called Edwards. While Vail has dozens of restaurants, believe me when I tell you this is well worth the short drive...and of all the spots that we ate at during our vacation, Ed'z tied with Matsuhisa (in Vail Village) as my favorite restaurants. It's a very unassuming restaurant in a little strip mall kind of setting. Ed'z serves comfort food and it was absolutely fantastic, and the portions are very generous. Starting with the complimentary cornbread, which was uncharacteristically moist as most cornbreads are not. Then I had Butternut squash soup, followed by the best Chicken Pot Pie I've ever had. The service was top notch, with everyone being very friendly and we never had to wait for anyone to ask a question or make any additional requests as they were very attentive. In addition the owner (I believe it was the owner) personally came by to check on us...I noticed he did to all the tables. My only regret is that I didn't discover this place sooner as there were so many things I...
Read moreOkay, So, this restaurant is beyond amazing. The atmosphere, the drinks, the food, the service…everything. It’s like a nice little hidden pocket of comfort and joy. There’s a reason the owners of this fine establishment have been very successful around this valley - they know what they’re doing. And, for those of you complaining about the 4% living wage add on - bite it. It is hard to survive in this valley (or really anywhere these days, let’s be real) - the owners are merely doing their due diligence and doing right by their employees AND their customers by being transparent about this. Don’t like it? Ask for it to be removed or dine elsewhere. What’s $4 on an already $100 check? Nothing. Back to what we’re all here for: the food 🤤 The fried green tomatoes are CHEF’S KISS. The truffle tots, butter burger, pot pie, poutine, ribs, etc etc are all SO GOOD. Don’t pass this hidden gem up, you’ll...
