I made a reservation for our party of 7 more than a month in advance and specifically requested a table in the front dining room of the restaurant. The host who took the reservation said that there would be no problem accommodating our request. We made this request because we have visited Juniper before with a large party and we were seated in the back of the restaurant where we were crammed into a small corner table against an outside wall. The back of the restaurant is essentially an outdoor patio space that is enclosed by a canopy. The heating is supplied by ceiling coil heating units, and some portable space heaters, therefore the temperature is not consistent throughout the space. The table where we sat was cold and drafty, thus we were very uncomfortable throughout our meal. This is why we requested a table in the front dining room of the restaurant on this visit. Well, when we arrived, we once again were seated in a cramped corner table that was against two of the outdoor-facing canopy walls. The restaurant was full, so there was no way we could have been sat in any other location. We were disappointed with the fact that despite making our reservation and seating request more than a month in advance and being promised the front room, we were sat in the exact space where we had the poor experience previously, and the staff did not acknowledge or apologize for the inconvenience. As far as the food is concerned, the quality and taste of the meal was excellent. The portions, however, were lacking, especially for the price. Specifically, the $16 butternut squash ravioli appetizer had 3 small ravioli. I understand that the dish is an appetizer, but it is ridiculous to serve 3 meager-sized ravioli and call it a dish of any kind. Our experience with the atmosphere and level of service at the restaurant was 2-star at best. The food was a 4-star experience (besides the meager portions), thus the 3-star rating for...
Read morewe arrived a couple of minutes early for our reservation and were told our table wasn’t ready yet. the host was rude/unfriendly. we were seated 15 min after the time of our reservation. we eat out often in Vail/Steamboat Springs - two busy resort towns…and can’t even remember a time I had a reservation and was made to wait to be seated. waiting a few minutes wouldn’t be too bad if they have a place for you to wait inside the cozy restaurant. but their waiting area is outside the restaurant where it is drafty and cool from doors being open repeatedly by people entering to dine at a neighboring restaurant. after sitting for a few minutes I went to wait inside the restaurant. I was asked if I’d been helped by 3 or 4 very nice, friendly staff and one offered me a seat at the bar while I waited. I declined because my boyfriend was still waiting outside the restaurant and I wasn’t going to sit at the bar without him and there was not a spot for both of us. A couple without a reservation arrived and I was told - ma’am you need to move so I can check other people in…umm wouldn’t be standing here if I had our table which should have been ready when we arrived. the couple without a reservation was seated almost the same time we were. my suggestions 1) fire the host from Saturday night 2) be prepared on time for reservations 3) at the very least, if you need a few minutes to get a table ready, make sure there is space at the bar for guests…if there isn’t…have their table ready!!! all of the other staff I encountered were wonderful. Our waitress was lovely. the food was incredible. unfortunate that we didn’t have a perfect experience otherwise. I probably would have given this place another chance but there are so many incredible option in Vail and Beaver Creek. and I’m unimpressed by the owner responses to negative reviews - extremely unprofessional and not respectable. not sure if...
Read moreMy experience at Juniper Restaurant in Edwards, Colorado, was nothing short of exceptional, earning them a well-deserved 5-star review! From the moment we walked into the beautifully designed interior dining space, we were captivated by the warm, inviting ambiance—elegant yet cozy, with tasteful decor that set the stage for an unforgettable evening. The culinary offerings were a true highlight, showcasing the kitchen’s creativity and expertise. We started with the corn bisque, a velvety, flavorful delight that perfectly balanced sweetness and depth. The beef tartare was impeccably prepared, fresh, and bursting with nuanced flavors. For entrees, the filet mignon and lobster were cooked to perfection—tender, succulent, and paired with exquisite sides that elevated the dish. The short ribs were another standout, melt-in-your-mouth tender with a rich, savory glaze that left us wanting more. Dessert was the grand finale: the almond coffee cake with ice cream was an indulgent masterpiece, striking the perfect balance of nutty, sweet, and creamy.
