Edit: I went last night and I won't be back to the Edwardsville location. I paid $17 for a single meal. When it arrived the beef looked petrified. It has clearly been under a warmer for a long time. There was no pink at all, it was completely brown and looked nothing like my favorite roast beef. I politely asked the young man behind the counter if I could have a new sandwich that was "more pink, like it always comes, not well done". He seemed confused but took my meal and gave it to the lady slicing beef. When he brought it back the sandwich looked exactly the same as the first time they gave it to me. I'm not convinced it wasn't actually the same sandwich. I would've sucked it up and eaten it if I hadn't spent $17 on it. Instead I brought it back up and again asked if I could have a new sandwich. I was polite. The woman slicing beef (keisha) yelled from behind the counter "he didn't tell me you wanted it rare, he just said you wanted it less well done." I replied that I just wanted it how I've always had it, literally how it is on the menu. She just repeated herself and then said "this is ridiculous". Not wanting to fight over it and not wanting someone who clearly disliked me making my food, I turned to the woman at the register and told her that I wanted my money back. She didn't balk at that but also said nothing to her employee. I found out later as she was refunding me that she was the assistant manager. An assistant manager that allows her employees to be so rude and disrespectful to customers. I wasn't rude at all, I just wanted a delicious roast beef sandwich that I paid a lot of money for. If you ever wonder why the Edwardsville location is always dead and doesn't do the business of the other locations, it's because the staff is awful and rude and they give out old food hoping you wont say anything.
Lion's choice used to be my all time favorite fast food. Their roast beef is so delicious. This location, however, is not my favorite. It just seems poorly run. The fries always seem old, they frequently don't have sauces out on the table (I'm guessing they don't want to have to clean them up at the end of day so you have to ask for packets at the counter) and they cover up most of the trash cans so they only have to empty one. Also, the employees always seem inconvenienced by customers. I know customer service is on the decline but I don't like being treated like a burden when I come in to order food. The beef is as good as it always was, but I don't go often to this location because of all the reasons...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. The last couple of times we have been at this location has been disappointing. This time, our sodas were PACKED with ice. Looked like iced tea (supposed to be Dr. Pepper)and the flavor was not right. We had went through the drive through, so we parked and went in. We informed the staff there was a problem with the soda, and just replaced ours at the self serve fountain. The soda machines may be running low on syrup or are not mixing right because even what we got on our own was a little off. At lease we had less ice. Our last visit here, we were told how the next time there would be a $5 reward available. When we ordered this time, no reward. I didn't think those expired, and it has been less than a month since we were there. Overall, Lion's Choice has went downhill big time. Not just at this location. The portion sizes are laughable. Dine in, you get a small handful of fries. Drive though, not much better. We are not big people, but even to us, the sandwiches seem tiny. Shrinkflation??? These portions don't cut it. Also, whatever this plastic basket thing the food is served in for dine in is STUPID! It's not the sort of thing people care about and its non impressive. I'm sure they do that to get away with the smaller portions. The overall quality has gone down. From the buns, to the fries. Meat has stayed pretty consistent, other than portion size. Use to feel we got a good value for our money. Today for 2 cub meals, and 2 number 1 originals was $37.97. For not much more, we could have ate at a higher end dine in restaurant and got a better meal. I remember years ago, Edwardsville had a lions choice right next door to where this location is. I wouldn't be surprised if it's on its way out again. This was one of our favorite places. Now, I don't think we...
Read moreLong post, but stay with me. I used to live in Missouri and was so excited to see this restaurant open in Edwardsville. We've eaten at the Edwardsville chain a handful of times and had just mediocre experiences. Tonight however sealed my opinion. We arrived at 6:30 and wanted the 1 pound take home roast beef and a 1 pound take home turkey for our family of 6. We were told they didn't have enough roast beef to sell us 1 pound and it would take "several hours" for the beef they had going to finish cooking. Oddly enough tough they did have enough beef to sell us 2 king size roast beef sandwiches. Now, there are 3 ounces per each regular roast beef sandwich, and a king is double the regular. That's roughly 12 ounces of roast beef for 2 king sanwiches, which is what i paid for. Keep in mind, there was apparently less than 16 ounces of roast beef, leaving only enough for probably 1 sandwich after our order. At 6:30 pm. I guess anyone coming in after that 1 sandwich wanting a roast beef sandwich is just SOL for "SEVERAL HOURS" while the rest of the roast beef cooks. Either they were not being truthful or it is under poor management. I'm then told they have no Cole slaw or ice cream either. Mildly irritating, but i get it there's lots of supply chain issues so maybe that's it? We get home and find our "king" roast beef sandwiches barely had enough roast beef to cover the bottom bun. Also didn't receive the buns that are supposed to come with the 1 pound take home turkey (as stated on the online menu). We paid $65 for this meal. Very disappointing. Won't ever go back. I gave 2 stars though because the turkey was, in fact, moist...
