Went to Macready Artisan Bread Co. on the advice of a friend during a recent trip to Door County, and was so glad I did! I was looking for just a simple, healthy lunch, and was not disappointed. I ordered just a ham sandwich and mushroom bisque soup, and was SHOCKED at the amount of food I was handed! The soup was outstanding, and the sandwich was perfectly made and extremely fresh. My wife had a chicken salad sandwich, and she felt it was some of the best chicken salad she ever had. We loved this place so much, we came back a second time, the only restaurant in Door County we went to twice!

Drinks are just bottles and cans of soft drinks stocked in a publicly accessible refrigerator. The sandwich was about $10, and the soup was $8. Not cheap, but absolutely worth it. Full prices charged on the drinks, as is typical in most sandwich shops. Plus, there's a nice, small assortment of fresh baked goodies for you to snack on, or to have as a desert.

We were there during the COVID-19 pandemic, and indoor dining was not allowed. We had to eat in outside, in a very nice courtyard, no problem at all, I even preferred it. They are taking all the precautions they possible can under circumstances, and I appreciate their willingness to operate at time where some restaurants have decided not to open at all.

The staff and owners are just wonderful people, and you can truly taste the love and goodness they put into all their food. Plus, they occasionally sponsor LIVE MUSIC in their gazebo! Some truly outstanding musicians come by, you'll have to check with Macready for a schedule. Makes the outdoor dining even more fun. And don't forget to take home a loaf of their fresh baked bread! A few different kinds to choose from, all excellent.

Do yourself a favor and try this place! I am NOT a scone fan but when I saw these I was like ‘ ok they look good let’s give them a try’ one bite in and we both instantly said ‘ we need to go back for more’! The scones are perfect balance of dry and wet to the cherries. They taste like the joy and love they were made from! Seriously, if Jenny can turn me into a scone lover, it can happen to you too! We also had grilled cheese and ham sandwiches for breakfast. They were fantastic! We bought a loaf of their French bread and while it doesn’t have that firm crust most people expect it IS delicious! The springiness of the bread and just the right amount of chewiness. I haven’t tried toasting it yet but I can imagine it will be just as tantalizing on the tongue. We did stop back the same day and got 2 more scones. We got into the best conversation with Jenny and Sue and told Jenny we needed cherry to take home to our daughter and she said she would make us another flavor asked what we like and we said surprise us. She made Raspberry and it was equally delicious. We also got a loaf of cranberry raisin bread, and it was one of those moments where you wanted to zip yourself into a bubble. Absolutely divine. My daughters exact words were (it’s slap ya mama good, figuratively 😆) If you’re in Door County for a few days go every day and try something new. She switches items daily and you will NOT be disappointed! This is now going to be one of our MUST stops when we come to Door County! Thanks Jenny and Sue! We’re friends now! Looking forward to next year and trying more of your creative and...

Nut Free and Fabulous. We look forward to coming here for lunch every year. One of the owner's Jennifer, is so personable. She has a passion for good bread, local vegetables and meats. Her chicken salad sandwich will not disappoint and her soups are unique and delicious. The best thing is she decided to go nut free. She still has a peanut butter and jelly sandwich option, but it's only made in one spot in the kitchen and she understands the severity of nut allergies. All of her baked goods are nut free. She uses seeds in an amazing way to provide a nutty, buttery flavor. Our son was so excited to get a baked treat this year because it was safe and so were we as we usually don't get one because we feel bad he can't enjoy it with us. The cherry roll and multigrain mix cookie were sensational....

Decided to stop here on the way up to Ephraim. This Egg Harbor establishment serves delicious deli sandwiches, cafe beverages and a variety of other baked goods. It has a small outdoor porch with a few tables for seating and an indoor seating area as well. You walk up to the cash register and place your order, if you ordered food they will promptly bring it to the table you have sat yourself at. There is plenty of street parking as well as a small parking lot off of the main road in somewhat of a strip mall type location. I ordered a Turkey sandwich it came with chips and treated myself to a chocolate chip cookie which was soft delicious! I would definitely go back for a sandwich and a snack!

Overpriced for average food. Ordered 3 basic sandwiches (2 were 1/2 sandwich w/ soup for .50 more than a whole sandwich) and 3 can of soda for over $46. The sandwiches were nothing special, basic meat, some lettuce and barely there mayo, but the bread was good. Two of us got the cheddar broccoli soup and it was flavorless. There were slimy chuncks of orange stuff in it that I'm pretty sure was the cheese sauce that was not blended in. Needless to say, we ended up not eating it after discovering that (I dumped half the bowl before thinking to take a pic of the orange gloop). Will not be back.
