The quality was all over the place.
As other reviews have pointed out, the glassware and silverware didn't look particularly clean, but it was probably mostly just water marks. My glass did have a pretty large green spot, though.
The atmosphere and staff seemed nice enough. There are a ton of themed items hanging around the tables that they're selling. Everyone was friendly, and the other guests sitting near us were fun!
I had the corned beef Eggs Benedict. The corned beef is actually small little crumbles instead of being shredded or a slice, which was kind of offputting and made it difficult to appreciate. The hollandaise was a little heavier with a strong butter flavor. They give you a lot, which is great! The poached eggs were small but had more runny yolk than you'd initially expect. The English muffin could have been toasted a bit more, but overall it was pretty good. I just wouldn't recommend the corned beef variant.
The fruit bowls were pretty disappointing, too. A lot of the grapes were half crushed, and some looked old. The melon pieces were mostly rind. The other fruits were okay!
The bran muffin was pretty good and moist, but there were just a few egg shell bits in it.
The (cherry?) jam was really good, and so was the bacon. No complaints there!
The service was pretty slow. It took over 40 minutes for our food, and just over 20 for our waitress to come back and tell us they didn't have the quiche of the day they told us they had. I get it taking longer for certain items like quiche, but it's still worth noting.
The bathrooms were pretty obnoxious too. I don't normally complain about things like this, but the faucets were those push-down ones, and they only last like 2 seconds until you have to...
Read moreIn short: staff didn't care our food was incorrect and served us refused food from a different table.
Terrible! My family and I stopped in for the first time today and we will not be back. We got seated at a tiny table crammed in the corner to start. We didn't even know there was a whole other more comfortable area until we were leaving. We gave our drink order and waited quite some time for our order to be taken. We placed our order: a corn beef and hash burrito with swiss for me, a cherry pancake for my daughter and a ham and cheese croissant for my husband. It took over a half hour to get our food. It arrived and mine was incorrect. There was no potato or swiss cheese - I brought it to the attention of the waitress who said she would check the menu to see if it included it. She confirmed it did and went in back to speak to someone. When she returned she said the person who made it said it "should be in there" and asked if I saw it. Um, no...I took the burrito apart and it was just chopped up corn beef and a scrambled egg. No apology, no offer to remake it, she just walked away! I ended up having to eat the dry burrito doused in ketchup and seasoning. To make matters worse, the waitress served us sliced fruit that the table across from us turned down. That is absolutely disgusting. I cannot believe we paid $40 for this and still had to pickup food elsewhere after. I'm appalled. When we decided to just pay our bill and leave, we asked for the check and the waitress instead stocked their shelf and cleaned a different table. We waited nearly ten minutes after asking for our check when she just did measley tasks. Service was just horrendous and the food...
Read moreStopped for the first time on a Friday, the place is adorable. Very quaint, with Colored plates and cups, and table cloths. I had a ham sandwich on a croissant with Rubarb. The sandwich was ok. Ham very good, Rubarb tasted like pineapple though. The waitress was not so hot, was from some other country, possibly Hungary or around there. She did not come back and ask if I wanted anything else or more coffee. But, anyway the place was so cute, that the next day, I brought my family back to eat lunch there. Bad idea! 2 of us got the Pot roast, Meat was very fat, and no Gravy, just kind of like an au juice with absolutely no flavor. My Granddaughter got biscuits and gravy, the biscuits were either very very stale , like a rock, or had been sitting out for a few days. She couldn't even cut a piece off of the biscuit and the gravy did not look like gravy, looked like a greasy mess. So I called the waitress over and told her the biscuits were in-edible. Then possibly the owner came over and asked if we wanted to get something else instead, but service was so slow, we did not want to wait again, so asked that they be taken off the bill, which they were. The waitress was bad again, never came back to refill coffee, never asked if everything was ok, . I think she was the same foreign waitress from the day before or else another one from the same country. We won't go back, which is upsetting, because I loved the atmosphere. I'm giving 2 stars for atmosphere and the owner ( or...
