MOLDY EXPERIENCE!!! I thought this place was as good as the old school original Bowie Bakery. WRONG¡! Rude older lady at counter. I went specifically for Pan Bollio. They had bags of bread on top of all the counter space. I looked at it, and I even asked for it to the rude older lady and with a smart aleck remark, she said they were right there on the counter. All of these are it, she said. I said, "That's not pan bollio. It was about 2:30 pm, and it was shocking to see Bowie Bakery empty. The only people there were the 4 to 5 women working there, other than that I was the only customer and I asked how much they were each she said 5.40 and that they bagged it so they can sell it quicker and that I should take it because they had been selling like crazy because everyone is making menudo. I knew that wasn't true because I was the only customer there. I saw them taking out some racks, and I asked if I could have those if they were coming out hot instead. They replied that these are from 5 AM this morning, and they aren't hot anymore. I said ok. The older women asked, "So are you going to want a bag?" I wasn't convinced that it was bollio bread. I was looking at the sweet bread and I said I'll take some sweet bread.i told her what I wanted and told her I'll just take the bag of bread (even though I knew it wasn't bollio). I just thought, well, better take that since they made it that morning at 5 a.m. fresh. This is New Years Eve. When I got home my family asked what's this? I said pan bollio with a laugh they said this isn't pan bollio it's telera ( another type of bread). I said well they made it this morning at 5 a.m., so at least it's " fresh". Long story short, when it was time to eat, there was mold on the bread. I was so upset i had to wait until they opened again because by the time we ate they were closed. I called to speak to a manager, and I spoke to Mayra. She said that's weird because we made it that day. I said well I didn't put it there. She said she'd give me my money back. Life happens, and I couldn't go return it. Will try to insert a picture with review. The sweet bread wasn't good either. After I mentioned where I went, my family replied , " Oh no, don't go to that place it's not like the original place we used to go to." I guess opening up on the west side isn't close to what the original Bowie Bakery on park st. Also have better employees better customer service. I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed this older...
Read moreI went into their westside location this morning shortly after 6 AM were I was always greeted with a friendly hello, well this morning I was greeted with dirty looks and not even a good morning, or a hello, or a nothing. Then the dirty looks when I ordered my burrito were ridiculous. It seems to me that this woman who absolutely looked like she did not want to be there to work her shift. I then wanted a turn over and asking the grumpy lady a question was like pulling teeth. I usually get great service from there, but not from today's visit. I mean I know everybody is initialed to have a bad day, but dang you done have to be grumpy to the people who help with your paycheck. I usually leave a tip, but again not today, well actually I will leave a tip. Stay away from the lady with the mask covering her face she's in a very bad mood. I swear I thought the customer us always right and smiling only takes one muscle to use and a frown uses I can't remember but it's a whole bunch. So to this lady whatever your name is I hope you have a blessed day and a very...
Read moreI find it simply amazing all the people who think Bowie Bakery makes good bread?... they USE TO make good bread a few years back but their standards are way too low now.... for instance, today I bought francesitos, tamales and doughnuts... the francesitos (boilos, pan frances or pan blanco– whatever you want to cal it) were horrible, mushy and not crispy like Valentines or Food City... the tamales lack a lot of salt and were all masa and no meat!... the doughnuts are not light but feel like your are eating two donughts at once unlike Duncan Dounuts... I saw their esponjas or pan de huevo and they look like they only had a couple of pieces of sugar on top? unlike the esponjas of Vista Market... as you can see I am not a competitor or even mentioning my families (brothers) bakery but– I hope that people vote with their money and start supporting or buying other bakeries bread to help Bowie awaken and up their quality and...
