Pretty bummed about my experiences lately. I have been coming to the Doniphan location for years, and it was always my favorite of the locations. For the most part, the old crew has moved on (which totally makes sense, with younger workers going off to schools and such), but the consistency and care has also gone down.
The last few times I’ve gone with friends things have been off (asking for less sweet and getting more, forgetting ingredients in ice cream “sundae” flavors they offer, smoothies being totally watery etc) and we go quite often. A side note, they did change their total process and recipe on their vegan ice cream and it’s not near as good and they give you less than they used to and the price went up. Not worth it anymore, sadly.
I’ll probably take a break from here based on my experience today, though. One of the older workers was there (she’s wonderful, and sadly I can’t remember her name) and they were out of their coconut chai. She recommended the Masala. It came out and it was pretty terrible, no fault of hers…but it just tasted very bitter. Something was off. Wasn’t like they’re spicy or coconut or any of the others I have tried here. And I tried…I kept taking little sips, hoping it would get better, but it just got worse. I let my partner try it and he confirmed it tasted bitter. I decided to just exchange it…but when I went up, 2 of the new workers were up front and already seemed in conversation where I was just “interrupting” and I got the “look” as I started to say it wasn’t great/wasn’t a good recommendation and tasted bad…so I offered right away to just buy another but the first just wasn’t drinkable. After an awkward exchange, they made me a new one, but also didn’t skip a beat in charging me as I returned a completely full drink. Regardless of me going there often (which I don’t know how many thousands I’ve spent there, but it’s a lot lol) or if I was a new customer…giving back a full drink and letting them know it was pretty awful, and for drinks that are $6 and up…pretty surprised they would charge to change that.
I think I’ll be taking a...
Read moreVery inconsistent service and VERY RUDE behind the counter. This afternoon around 5:45 pm, I was picking up a bowl. I walk in and the girl behind the counter looks up at me, gives me a dirty look and continues with ringing up the customer in front of me. No acknowledgment, no hello, no welcome in, no smile, basically rude Customer Service! You should always acknowledge people when they walk in your store with a smile not a dirty look… Then after I pick up my bowls, she decides to charge me for the cups for the granola on the side. Why was this not charged to me when I ordered online? Why was this decision made AFTER the fact and not BEFORE payment was made??? This is bad business! … to decide and pick and choose who you’re gonna charge after the fact, really??? . The girl working behind the counter was extremely rude when explaining that it’s just something the owner told her to do. I understand that nothing is free and I don’t expect anything to be free, but I have put things on the side multiple times and all of a sudden she starts charging…. Ok. But why was this decision made after payment was made for the smoothie bowls??? I asked why. Her reply was that she didn’t control the price. And she said it very sarcastically too. I just came in to pick up my dinner, not for someone to be sarcastic and rude to me I’m not asking anybody to control the price especially somebody that works behind the counter, but what I do expect is some consistency and some politeness and this girl behind the counter is consistently rude. What a disappointment !!! I’m there three times a week or more. Why is Customer Service and having someone be polite and thankful for your patronage...
Read moreThis establishment has been here for several years and I've raved about them to my friends since they first opened! You can often find the owner at either location and customer service is top quality. Of course, with small businesses, interaction with customers is essential but it is very obvious that here it goes beyond that. They go the extra mile when it comes to any questions you have about the teas and even just by being genuinely nice. You can tell everyone takes what they do serious and always make you feel so comfortable! Now, when it comes to variety of items, it is still excellent! From the teas, to the fresh juices, to the fact they have trail mixes and different breads to snack on is just awesome! And of course, the items available to purchase at the front is an awesome bonus as a gift shop or a treat yourself type of shop. As far as location, this establishment can be a bit difficult to exit out of if there's traffic. Other than that, seating indoors and outdoors is perfect, very refreshing and perfect for winding down. As a small business owner myself, I can see by the connections you have with customers is essential but that also means you can always expect quality...which you can't get at a chain restaurant or franchise like i.e. Starbucks. You really do get more for your dollar here...a whole experience versus just a product. So, I have raved from the beginning and will continue to excitedly share with others!...
