Deserto Pizzeria - Central — Restaurant in El Paso

I waited a couple of years to go for them to get into their groove. Now that I have ,I am very disappointed. Now, don't get me wrong, the taste was great. However , they dold themselves short with the dough. It's thick on the top and paper thin at the bottom , it was kneeded to thin, and all the toppings fell off, it was soggy, and the bade sauce was nearly non excisting. For pizza condesuers, you know that's a no no. For the price of 20 bucks for a specialty pizza, it's a robbery for what you get. As for the atmosphere it was good if you sat outside, inside I chaotic and you get forgotten for the servers change on you and of course when you're being served, servers who weren't your initial one misses to bring items you requested. One last thing I really did not appreciate was that the pizza prep was not too sanitary. They had long hair running into their faces, which was loose and could possibly get hair in your pizza, nor did they anyone wear gloves. It's a great spot , just minor improvements needed.

Reply : For some reason, I couldn't reply . Nonetheless, here it is. The pizza was not the Napolitano, and it was way too thin if it had been . Second, last night, there were two gentlemen, and I have video. One had bleached hair, which was the one prepping, and did not have gloves. There was a raffle going on, and the servers looked overwhelmed a bit. Lastly ,plus tax, it's 20 dollars. The location was great, and the atmosphere was as well. The pizza is good and priced okay but service can do better. What is the point of allowing online orders requiring a 30 minute window to fulfill your order and providing a pick up time only to make you wait another 20 minutes when you get there. Online orders automatically prefill with a 20% tip and my intention was to give a small cash tip despite my order being a pick up however having to wait another 20 minutes for my order that I picked up discouraged me from leaving anything. This tip situation is out of control with a lot of restaurants. When did it become a thing to tip anyone and everyone even if they don’t wait on you, it’s ridiculous and leaves a sour taste in peoples mouth no matter how good the food is.

Response to acknowledged review: I attached the screen shots of the text messages I received you are referring too. Nowhere does it say the pick up time is “estimated” its clear “your order will be ready at 6:50”. My party did not arrive 10 minutes early they arrived on time maybe 1 minute til 6:50. it wasn’t a waste of 10 minutes it was a waste of 20 min as you can see in the screenshot you said it would take 10 min to complete my order yet the I message indicating my order was ready was nearly 20 minutes after the initial promised time. There’s nothing more obnoxious than a backhanded apology insinuating lies if a customer takes time to leave a review it’s for a reason. I have to say that even though I’ve been meaning to check out this place for some time I was a bit let down. First off, we were told to sit anywhere and no body came to give us menus but then the people who arrived after us were given menus right away. Maybe they forgot we were there but when I attempted to get attention from two servers who were standing together they just looked at me and then I guess they started discussing amongst themselves to see who was going to take our table. A simple acknowledgment of me would have been nice. Maybe a gesture of “I’ll be right there” but no they just looked at me confused . Finally the rest of the experience was fine until they didn’t give us enough napkins and the plates were way too flimsy for how messy the pizza was . The pizza was okay for Neapolitan style. Also on the menu there’s this weird disclaimer saying that they don’t recommend modifications to their pizzas.
