My wife and I decided to try Julios for lunch today. Turned out to be an excellent decision on our part.

First impressions were quite positive. Restaurant interior was lovely and very clean. One thing that jumped out at us was that the tables had good size to them. A lot of times, as a two top, we get very small tables that barely fit the entre plates and make sharing an app difficult. Not the case at Julio's as the two top had plenty of room.

Susanna served us, greeted us with a smile, and quickly took and delivered our drink order. When my wife told her this was our first visit, Susanna showed fantastic menu knowledge, told us about the food and made many excellent suggestions. This can be an overlooked skill and Susanna was superb. During the meal she was attentive, keeping my iced tea full, and she made sure all of our needs were met.

As for the food, the pre meal chips were fantastic and obviously made from scratch as opposed to some store bought bagged ones. Salsa was sweet with, depending on your spice tolerance, a nice little kick or "quite zippy".

As for the meal, she had "Flautas Oaxaquenas" (she selected chicken) while I chose "Three Enchiladas (I went one beef, one chicken, and one cheese with red sauce). Enchiladas were served with refried beans and Spanish Rice. We finished by sharing the "Tres Leches Cake".

Flautas were bite sized, crunchy and the guacamole was fresh and excellent. This was a tasty bite and an wonderful choice for my wife. I loved the Enchiladas as the filling to tortilla ratio was spot on. Beans were fresh and the chips made for a great dipping vessel. While not a big rice guy. I really enjoed theirs and dug the peas and carrots. The Tres Leches cake was so good. Really nice flavor in the cake and the whipped cream topping mixed so well with, as Susanna put it, "the (tres leches) sauce"

Final cost for the 2 of us was $41 (and some change). This was great value for the money as ingredients were all fresh, portions generous and food tasty. Would give 6 stars if I could and will...

12/1/2023 We have been going to this restaurant for years on a weekend nights. My wife and I would sit at the bar order two drinks and our queso fundidio. We have seen managers and bar tenders come and go, which does not matter to us. However, today for the 1st time when we came in as our normal routine around 7 p.m. MST, we were told by the new hostess we woud sit at the bar and have some appetizers and drinks as usual. She immediately said we couldn't and could only order drinks. There was noone sitting at the bar area and the restaurant was not that full at all. We said ok, and we proceeded to the bar. Before we could get to the bar seat, some guy, guess a floor manager? Walked up to us and stated again we could not order food. The bartenders that knows us by now looked surprised at the moment. We decided to leave. At no time have we ever or at the moment given a reason to be denied food. Drinks were ok, I guess? We left humiliated and decided to go get fast food. At that time I called the restaurant and requested to talk to a manager and explained what had happened. David, the manager he said he was? asked us to come back but I explained we had just gotten our fast food. BESIDES, We did not want to be that couple that gets pointed out on the humiliation ordeal we just went through.

We really like this place and really looked forward to our weekend evenings' having a good time with bar tenders. But the humility was a little embarrassing. Not sure we can come back.

Not asking for free nothing and don't need it. But the hostess and the assistant? with glasses who made the point to embarrass us in front of the bar staff, they could ask questions before asserting their point of view. We will...

I took my family here for the first time since I had heard good reviews and let me tell you what a disappointment. Seems like the Chef and the kitchen crew was way off. First off my "chicken and rice" soup was waaay too salty and tasted like the instant Mexican soups with high sodium that you buy at the supermarket... nothing special there.. I ordered the broiled fish with garlic sauce and tartar sauce and I couldn't take more than 4 bites. It was the opposite to the soup.. very bland, no flavor at all even adding the garlic sauce and tartar sauce did not fix it. I could only eat the baked potato that came with the plate. My daughter had the bean and cheese burrito, which she normally loves, but not this one.. she only took 2 bites and left it aside. She opened it up and it was mostly cheese and looked gross(look at pictures). My son had steak and fries and also he codnt finish it. I tasted it and it had absolutely no flavor.. I wouldnt even feed that to my dog.. seems like the kitchen was not seasoning anything.. the only positive plate of the night were my wife enchilada plate which was good and she liked it. Atleast my wife was happy with that (happy wife, happy life).

I cant believe I spent 50 dollars on mediocre food when there are other places in El Paso way more traditional and with delicious maxican food for half the price. Just 2 days ago I went to another Mexican restaurant and spent 30 bucks for absolutely delicious food.

Last time I go...

I am always looking for something different to eat...me and friend wanted to have brunch and we found Julio's cafe. Funny that's it's called a cafe because to me it's more like a restaurant. It may not be located in an upscale area but the inside definitely is. It's a good size restaurant with and great looking bar. There's a private room for special occasions but the restaurant is big enough for more than one occasion. Oh FYI, I came in wearing a sweatshirt so I felt a little under dress. But, no one looked at me funny so I was good :). To start: our waiter Hugo introduced us to their bottomless Sunrise Mimosa's which was only $4. And it kept on coming! Hugo was so attentive. FYI they also have bottomless Margaritas ... so then Hugo offered us the menu but he also recommended the Buffet. He's so awesome that he can name everything in the buffet. So of course we went for It. The buffet had all you can eat pancakes, Mexican potatoes, eggs con jalapeño, Asado Cuerco, barbacoa, menudo, chicaron, and more. The barbacoa and the asado tasted so authentic I went for seconds!!!!! Then there was the table with assorted fruits and Mexican bread. Oh it was all so yummy! Oh one more thing the place has a live vibe so it can get a little loud at times plus they had live music!!! This was an awesome place to eat, I'd come again!!!
