Very disappointed I live in the far east and drove all the way over to this establishment for their Asada fries I get to the restaurants and I walk in it’s a little bit loud in there. I place my order I didn’t quite hear the girl repeating it back to me as I was still looking at their menu to order some thing else. When I got my receipt I do you like I always do and stick it into my purse I get all the way back home open it up and it’s nachos instead of fries which is not what I ordered my mistake for not the food before I left. OK so a mistake was made I call and talk to the server who took my order and she said that’s what she heard me say and she said that she also repeated it back to me mind you it’s a little bit loud in there and I was still looking at the menu to place my order. then she tells me that there’s a sign that says for me to check my receipt which I don’t recall seeing a sign but if there OK. My friend who also placed an order after me said she heard me say fries. Needless to say the order wasn’t what I wanted and wasn’t what I ordered We drove all the way over to their establishment for the fries why would I have ordered nachos. She gets her manager and her manager says that there’s nothing she can do because her girls repeat the order and there’s a sign. Smh bad customer service I feel like. I even asked if I could bring it back and have an exchange or if there was a discount if I drove all the way back over there to get the right order I wasn’t asking for free food because mistakes happen. Very disappointed with the customer service and to top it all off it’s not all it’s hyped up to be. the taste of the food not that great the asada was very dry and lacking flavor. Very disappointing all together
Update!!!! there where was a couple in the lobby and two other customers sitting off to the side. As well as my self and my friend with her daughter. The music was a little loud. Disappointed in you reply. As I stated my friend heard me when I ordered and said it was clear what I asked for. Regardless of the sign witch I didn’t see and your cashier repeating it back( she wasn’t very loud when she spoke anyway)and as I stayed I didn’t hear her nevertheless it was the wrong order. I wasn’t looking for free food just for you to make it right by 1 allowing me to come back and exchange it or to reorder with a discount for the trouble of coming back. Poor customer service in my opinion. Won’t be recommending you to...
Read moreGot to finally try Rivas Taco Shop. It’s a nice place to grab a Cali style burrito in East El Paso, with a huge selection of different items, you’ll definitely find something for everyone on their menu. If you like big burritos but don’t like paying $40 for two burritos then skip Chipotle and hit up Rivas. They specialize in big California style burritos. You know the type, loaded with meat, veggies, and fries, then rolled up like a big fat blunt. Breakfast items look good too. My only complaint is the menu is hard to read. I went here to try their Chico’s Tacos fries that I saw online, but I didn’t see it on the menu and under pressure from the cashier, and fear that I had dreamed up those Chicos Tacos loaded fries I just got a couple of their classic burritos and an order of tacos ahogados, which I thought would be like chicos, but turns out they’re smothered in a sour spicy green tomatillo sauce, good, but not what I expected. (This part really isn’t a complaint about the cashier, she was nice, not trying to rush me, I just hate making people wait.) While I sat and waited for my order I was still trying to find those fries on the menu, and eventually I found them, all the way on the right bottom of the menu where you would normally see the drink or kids menu. 😿 The burritos are definitely worth the price. It took me all day to finish. I got the chicken, which is marinated in what tasted like a jalapeño chipotle marinade, a little too salty, but still tasty. The tortillas are Cali style, thin, big, and slightly under done, which makes them perfect for rolling up a massive amount of fillings. Unfortunately I didn’t see the Cali burrito section of the menu, so no fries in the classic burritos. Overall I liked what I got to try, and will definitely be back to try those loaded fries, and the breakfast looks really promising. The menu really needs to be reorganized, there are so many options that it’s overwhelming to try to find and pick something. But I will be back and this review will be updated when I get to try those fries… to...
Read moreI was excited to try Rivas Taco Shop after seeing they have the Cali burrito on their menu. I was born and raised in SoCal so I’ve had plenty of Cali burritos in my lifetime and was happy to see a place in El Paso that offered it.
The spot is big and clean. Plenty of tables for customers and it was decorated nicely. The girl taking our order was very friendly and helpful when I asked for their sizing of sides.
My husband ordered the shrimp quesadilla, he has yet to try it so no comment on that as of yet. We decided to share the Cali burrito and the carne asada fries. I will say that the portions are a good size! Good enough for sharing. I ordered the Cali burrito with sour cream and the carne asada fries with no beans. My husband did state that he liked the burrito, which I agree it was pretty good.
The fries were a letdown though. I think both my husband and I didn’t care too much for them. The carne asada was a bit chewy, kind of made it difficult to eat. I will also add that we both got sides of sour cream and it tasted off to us. Very watery consistency and just didn’t really taste like sour cream, not sure what it was but it kind of threw off my meal.
Overall I’m not sure I would come back. We spent over $40 for our food and I personally don’t feel the quality and taste of the food was worth it. But that’s just my opinion. I will continue to search for a good Mexican spot in El Paso. Rivas was decent, but I wouldn’t say I loved their food. I may just have high...
