Review of Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant. Location: northwest corner of George Dieter and Vista Del Solar.
This is a strip mall, so parking can be a tad challenging.
For me, one of the first indicators of a successful restaurant dining experience, is how the staff demonstrates appreciation of the patronage.
Upon opening the front door, we were immediately warmly greeted by the assistant manager Daniel.
From the moment we entered, we were treated like family, not just customers
Daniel escorted us to our table and introduced us to our server Art.
A delightful conversation ensued as Daniel made inquiry of our history in El Paso in general, and his restaurant in particular. He took this opportunity to advise us of Las Palmas's particular cuisine offered on the menu.
As Daniel returned to greeting new patrons entering the restaurant, he passed us to Art for further assistance with menu selections.
Art made several suggestions for dinner options. We chose to follow his recommendations of Gorditas, and Seafood Enchiladas. Both proved excellent !
The Gorditas were filled with a number of succulent fillings options. Pork, Brisket, and Ground Beef.
Simply delicious!
The Seafood Enchiladas proved exceptional as well.
We completed the dinner with a dessert of fresh crispy soppapillias.
It was obvious that every ingredient used in tonight's dinner was completely fresh. Flavors were sharp, crisp, and full bodied.
This meal was exceptional !
As dessert was coming to an end, Mike, the restaurant manager stopped by our table for a very hands on customer survey regarding our satisfaction with our dinning experience. His warmth and attentiveness demonstrated why the staff is so successful in making the customers feel welcomed.
My wife and I expect that we will have many more return visits to Las Palmas restaurant in our remaining months...

Was told it would take 13 min to sit us outside even tho no one was there. Waited only 5 min. Our waiter was great, very patient, kind & funny. We were offered chips & green salsa. The chips were a 2, the Salsa was also a 2 out of 10. It had no flavor it wasn't spicy, we had to ask for Table Salt to help it. I had Orchata (good/ decent) I ordered a "Caldo de Pollo with tortilla chips" for my toddler. The piece of chiken breast was supper dry. I had a hard time shredding it with the fork, the caldo had 0 veggies, it had a "res" flavor at the very far end of the palette. We also ordered chile con queso, that was a big disappointment. Also had no flavor, we mixed the green salsa with the chile con queso to see if it would help it & it kinda did. I ordered "Chile con Queso Steak" medium rare. The Chile con Queso was just like the 1st one that was brought to us as a starter. No flavor. No spicy. The Steak, was good I give it a 7 out of 10, rice & beans were just like every other restaurant out of a can & rice was plain no flavor either. My husband ordered "Chiken Tampikeno" Another flavorless dry piece of chiken breast. Ordered Sopapillas, they were small & when bitting it we had to yank a bit, but I guess it was an okay flavor. In everything I believe we almost paid 90$ well plus tip. We were a bit upset we were charged extra for paying with Card. That one really did upset us. Unfortunately we won't come back. This type of food is made from White people trying to be Mexican. We come from the Southside of El paso where our food has much more flavor, condiments, & real spicy to the point it hurts your stomach but it tastes great. This food is more for the New generation...
Read moreWe were so disappointed. We decided to visit this restaurant based on it's proximity to us and the reviews; however, this was an instance where I learned not to trust reviews. We did have to wait to be seated, but the wait time wasn't horrible. It took awhile for our server to greet us and the tables seemed a bit short. I ordered a small Tortilla Soup to start because we were seated close to the door, and the draft made it cold. The soup was nothing more than a simple chicken soup with only chunks of chicken and a side of cheese, avocado and tortilla strips. To make matters worse, the soup was served barely warm. I'm not sure why they think it's worth $6.99. The service was extremely subpar. There was 4 of us at the table. They brought 2 meals then didn't serve the other 2 for five minutes. They had more than enough servers and staff for a 160 occupancy restaurant, but couldn't keep our drinks full, our plates cleared and our chips full. One waitress even handed my daughter her drink by basically shoving it in her face and walking away. My husband ordered his Huevos Rancheros without chile and cheese...he ordered the Chile con carne on the side. He doesn't like cheese on his eggs, but they brought them smothered with Chile con queso then remembered to bring the Chile con carne on the side several minutes later. Disappointing food, bad service and overpriced. Our final bill for 4 entrees and...
