I have gone for Taco Tuesday several times at Yvonne's Cantina and Grill. The tacos are excellent and filling. They give you the option of ground beef, potato, chicken, and shredded beef, and they are all quite tasty at a reasonable price. The place is small and it gets really full and busy on Tuesdays. You can see the servers, rushing around getting the orders to the customers. The things I would change is that only 3 of the staff were smiling; that was the owner Yvonne (who is a really cool lady, talkative, and pleasant), her daughter, and our wonderful server Pete. Although he was busy, he checked on us, got us what we needed, all with a great personality and a smile on his face. He even told us that they have Taco Thursday. Yvonne stated they start that special from 7am to closing time. Everyone else looked like they hated their jobs, sorry to say. No smiles, not personable. We were lucky to have Pete serving us. I feel for as busy they get, they need a bigger location. When you arrive you have to wait to be seated and even though the non smiling weight staff saw me and my husband waiting for like 3 minutes to be seated at the few available tables, he had to wave one of the servers down to seat us. She was not very personalable. We were sitting right by the kitchen and those cooks/ladies were busting their butts making the tacos from scratch and getting those orders out quickly. Kudos to those ladies, Yvonne, her daughter and Pete. Ask for him when you go. The food is great and the salsa is spicy. I totally recommend...
Read moreO-ehm-gee! Yvonne's is one of my new favorite spots for both breakfast and lunch. Typically, when I am in the mood for enchiladas or tacos, and the ball and chain asks me what I want, L&J's is usually my answer (love their enchiladas w/over-easy egg Christmas style). Not anymore! To Yvonne's we go.
Both breakfast and lunch are fabulous, not to mention well-priced and generous portions. I ordered a small bowl of menudo the first time I went, and WOW. I can't fathom the size of the large bowl. The broth was very flavorful and a great mix of hominy and tripe. To me, there's nothing worse than a bowl of menudo that is primarily hominy.
On our last visit, I ordered the Carnitas Tacos plate that came with so much meat that I was able to take a bit home because I ran out of tortillas. Did they not give me enough tortillas? Yes. Yes, they did. I ate five generously filled, delicious tacos sent straight from the heavens themselves. My husband ordered the Fiesta Burger. What a delectable meal! I think the meat is cooked in bacon grease. It had a really wonderful flavor.
Oh, I am rambling. The service is typically top-notch. However, the young lady who helped us during our most recent visit acted as if she would rather be anywhere but work, but the occasional uninvested server is expected at any establishment you go to. Except Chick-fil-a, and we won't...
Read moreWe ordered through Door dash. First time ordering from here. Arrived eta 35-40 min pretty standard for when we order takeout. We got Albóndigas and Fiesta burger with one Horchata drink and a coffee. Albóndigas were a choice since I was sick and my throat needed something warm. I did not know it had chipotle pepper in it. Which was delicious. Not so good for my throat. Online the Albóndigas are a clear broth. Again didn't know it had chipotle pepper in it. It did have two quesadillas on the side we did not order that. I'm guessing when you buy the Albóndigas you can dip them in the broth. So that was so nice. We ordered to eat at home so we had spoons but our order didn't have any to go utensils or napkins. My husband's fiesta meal was good meat and fresh toppings. The bottom bread though was so soggy and it was pretty gross. Fries were ok they were so brown idk if it's the oil they used and soggy. Overall good flavor was there maybe because it was delivered it was so soggy. But I don't think it was worth 40dlls nor a place I would dash for again. I order often and there's other restaurants with...
