Short story: our dining experience was ruined when the manager disrespectfully chewed out the very sweet servers for taking customers during his âbreak.â
Long story: My bf and I dined in at 3:05pm on a Thursday. When we walked up to the door there was a smallish handwritten note taped upside down on the door that read something like âlunch time 3:00-4:00â with no other context. The door was unlocked, we went in, and a very sweet server immediately welcomed us and offered for us to take a seat wherever. There were no other diners and the 2 servers had been sitting so I asked âare you guys open?â because I wasnât sure what the note had meant. The young woman assured us we were welcome to stay and that they were open. We ordered & other diners came in and ordered too.
About halfway through our meal the manager walked past us to the door, complaining about âwhy put up a note if no one will even read it,â ripped the note off the door, and balled it up. He was clearly upset. He went back to the kitchen area, which is open to the restaurant, and started making food. Then he decided to berate one of the servers for the disrespect of having people there. I didnât catch everything he said but his tone and volume were very clearly demeaning and immediately ruined our whole experience. We felt really bad for those servers and finished up and quickly left. I really hope the situation didnât get worse for the servers once all customers were gone.
In my opinion, I could have had the best gyro of my life and would still never go back to this place unless itâs under...
Read moreUpdated 4/14/16: I recently had the displeasure of coming in here for lunch. This restaurant used to be my go-to for Mediterranean food. I have to say that my most recent experience was very disappointing. I was assigned a very rude, lazy, low-energy server. It took her forever to bring out our silverware and she was very unresponsive to our needs. Instead she stood around watching the news, eyes glued to the TV. We received burnt pita breads, and sloppily put together sandwiches. I also noticed a great reduction in the size of portions and being charged for things that were originally included in the menu as long as a significant price increase. It used to run my husband and I around $24 to eat here. We always ordered the exact same thing. The lunch bill now cost around $32. More money for poor service. I guess we came in on an off day which is disappointing because I will probably never give them my business again.
Original review: (5 stars) Great food, great service. I was a long time customer of the Jerusalem but that place has since declined in quality of food and customer service. Zino's is 200% better and has become my new...
Read moreI picked this place out as a place I wanted to try before coming to El Paso. I love Greek and when a home builder who came from a Greek family also recommended the place I put it as a priority. Unfortunately I didn't know they closed at 6 on a Tuesday so I didn't get to try as much as I wanted. Coming in at 5:58pm the manager said he would try to get me whatever he could. I ended up ordering the baba ghanoush, Greek salad and baklava. He whipped it up fast for me to go. The Greek salad was super fresh and tasted, nice blocks of feta cheese, crisp cucumber and briny kalamata olives. The baklava was flaky, sweet with a hint of floral that I enjoyed. It had a extra "something" that made it stand out among the rest. The Baba ghanoush had that smokey flavor at the end that was just what you look for. You could tell it was made fresh with chunks of eggplant as well. Overall I was very pleased. If I end up in El Paso again I've love to try more including their spanakopita. Opa!
