I wanted to really like Slice & Pint. It’s local. It’s an extension of the brewery. But after multiple visits, I can say that it’s only OK. The beer and surprisingly the wine selections are solid (the Chianti and Cab are solid choices), which is why I give it as many as 3 stars. Not only do they regularly have 12 ESBC beers on tap but they have an excellent list of guest beers, which occasionally includes a nice Belgian. Also the service is pretty great (friendly, attentive, and generous), which pains me to write the rest of the review. The food, however, is subpar. While I appreciate the attention to sustainability and locally sourced ingredients, the focus on details doesn’t translate to the taste of the food. The dough of both the pizza and garlic knots is too sweet and the texture is lacking. Perhaps the omission of a wood-fired oven is the deal-breaker here. The broccolini was overcooked, as if it had been blanched before roasted. I don’t typically comment on portion size but the calamari is laughably stingy for the price tag, averting $1.80 per “strip.” Saving graces are the Italian chopped salad and the arugula salad. Here, the local ingredients get a chance to shine. I’ll probably keep coming here because it’s the only place in town my partner and I can get a decent beer and wine.

2 slices and any beer for $12. Best lunch special in El Segundo? Maybe. Guess it depends on what you want out of your lunch. Prime Pizza offers a similar special with more slice options and less beer to choose from. Been a while since I been offered a craft beer on draft for 4 bucks and wasn't limited to the cheapest beer on the menu. The slices were in the crust-sauce-cheese ratio sweet spot. Light and crunchy rather than limp and globby. Ended up ordering a square pie to take home. Be warned, I was quoted 30 minutes. It took 45. Then it was given to me in this obnoxiously huge box that dwarfed the size of the pizza because they use it for their whole round pies. I was given no reason for this. Is keeping a supply of boxes specifically for square pies not in the budget? Having to carry this box around and keep my pizza balanced so it didn't slide was annoying. The pizza itself appeared to be assembled Detroit style and the edges were exactly what they needed to be. I would just suggest using two smaller pans so that we get nothing but corner slices. Nobody cares for the middle slices. Maybe sell some slices during lunch as well. There is no reason for the barrier to entry for squares to be all or none. Good square pizza is already hard to come by in LA county anyway.

Overall, we enjoyed our meal. I took my 81 year old Mom on a Sunday evening and it was packed. There are not many individual tables, mostly community shared tables and some bar stools. Here's our thoughts: We weren't crazy about their single slice so we had to buy an 18" pizza. It was a lot for 2 people but hey...Mom has leftovers for a couple of meals. Pizza was very good. We had the ham and pineapple...the crust and sauce were just right and it came out piping hot. I had a glass of their Pinot Noir on tap which I thought was a little pricy for the quality ($14). I probably won't do that again. It seems like the pint drinkers were pretty happy though. Dessert was a combination of their salted caramel chocolate chip cookie (warmed) and a scoop of ice cream. It's pretty large and the scoop of ice cream was very generous. Almost too much for 2 people...almost ;) The only negative we found was the sound. Maybe they don't want an older crowd because many people lose some of their hearing as they age. The combination of the industrial design (which lends to the sound bouncing around) and the music being so loud, I couldn't hold much of a conversation with my Mom.

I just had one of the most confusing experiences at this restaurant. My family and I arrived and were pleasantly greeted by the staff. I mentioned we had a very hungry toddler and ordered a slice of pizza for her (on top of a bigger order) in hopes of a faster delivery to the table. Without even stressing it to them, the staff was SUPER kind and delivered it almost immediately. My child is an INCREDIBLY picky eater and gobbled it down QUICKLY.

Although, our reason for a family gathering was due to our youngest brothers VERY unexpected passing we were really happy to have really wonderful service and food to regroup before departure back to New York.

The problem begins when I'm leaving the bathroom area near the water area. A middle aged woman with dark hair approached me hastily from behind, telling me to move out of the way, pushing me forward as I was walking through a small cramped space. I turned around very confused and she verbally accosted me, and reactively I did the same thing back!! (mainly out of shock). After she walked out the restaurant door I assumed it would be the last I see of this crazy woman, but she turned right back around and came inside moments later. She seemed to be fuming glaring at me and my family sitting.in the far right corner sway from all of the other tables.

I can't say at all what the problem was, but since I was scared of her and her actions I alerted the counter staff of the situation, and they were WONDERFUL in the response. As I left the restaurant with my 2 year old child the woman and her two friends were hollering and laughing at me loudly through the window, and my sister in law decided to finally say something to them about ruining our meal. The manager stepped in at this point, but only to the defense of the women making a spectacle. It really felt like these women were possibly high and also just friends of management, with no fear of any repercussions. The owner or manager came out attempting to defend them or defuse the situation. He asked if they should be kicked out ?? I don't see why you wouldn't kick them out, but we opted to leave rather than endure the chaos for no reason. We were not even seated anywhere near each other and I alerted the staff right after the initial interaction.

I feel ridiculous even posting this because it felt like an UNREAL interaction...

The woman at the front with half blonde and half black hair was an absolute hero to my toddler, and angel through the evening.

So... I guess I'm not totally sure I would return based on the Management's response, but the front staff was lovely and the food was...

I got a slice of the pizza that had arugula and goat cheese on it (I forget its name) and the pistachio pesto wings- both were absolutely delicious. The pizza slice was small for the price, but absolutely made up for it in flavor. As a slice, it's rivaling the likes of Prince Street Pizza. The flavor is better than Prince, but Prince has much better dough. This slice would murder Prince Street if it were Sicilian. The pistachio pesto wings were everything I needed. Again, expensive for what you get in the box, but they more than make up for the price in flavor. I got about eight or so wings (I lost count when I noticed there was some buried under pesto at the bottom of the box), and while they were on the small side, they were very delicious. For both items I have to say this: you know how when you go to a restaurant and you look at what's on a dish and you think it's going to be delicious and then you get the dish and there's very little of the things that you thought would make it delicious? It is the exact opposite with this place. The pizza had a very generous helping of toppings and the wings were basically soaked in pesto (again, I lost count after discovering more wings under a layer of pesto under the rest of the wings). I've never gone to a restaurant, asked for something with pesto, and had extra pesto at the end until I ate these wings. The pesto was a little salty and greasy, but it would work well with a beer- that said, I haven't drank in a while, so I'm going off past meals. I elected to eat my meal in my car, like a gremlin, but this looks like a sweet spot to hang with friends. The inside is full of cool crap to look at and has a comfy vibe, plus there's a patio. All in all, it feels like a really awesome small town pizza spot from back when every restaurant took pride in customer experience no matter what they sold. Even the workers had a elevated sense of friendliness based on my fleeting interactions with them. They even picked up the phone when I called to tell them I was running late to pick...

2 strikes for this place and there won't be a 3rd. Went there a few months back for a single slice of pizza and was not wowed. Thin and soggy.

Last week with my family I thought I would give them another chance. I got the primo 9x12" pan crust pizza with 2 toppings. My wife got a salad and my daughter had a slice. To be fair, the cashier mentioned the pan pizza would take longer. My wife's salad was OK and my daughter's slice was as I remembered it, except hers was burnt. 20 minutes after my family was done eating I went to check on my pan pizza. "They normally take about 35 minutes" was the response. Based on the timestamp of our emailed receipt, this was 40 minutes after we placed the order. ONE HOUR after placing the order my pizza showed up and it looked delicious...but was anything but. I was starving but had a hard time getting through 1slice. Everything was SALTY. Sure, it's pizza, it'll have some salt, but even the crust by itself was saltier than a bag of fries. My wife tasted it and agreed. It was just terrible.

1 9x12 pan pizza + 1 salad + 1 slice + 1 beer + generous tip = $66.XX, which is maybe a fair price if the food is really good but I wouldn't take their pizza if it was free.

I want to like this place. It's owned by the El Segundo Brewing Co which is a great place to hang out and their beers are good. But 2 tries with less than mediocre results means we won't ever come back. 2 stars for the ambience and great house beer, but a "pizza joint" has to have good pizza if...
