I recently dined at Jame Restaurant, and it was an exceptional culinary experience from start to finish. The restaurant offers a cozy, modern ambiance that is both inviting and stylish, making it perfect for any occasion.
We started our meal with two delectable pasta dishes. The first was the Rigatoni with Tomato Sauce, which was simple yet flavorful. The pasta was cooked to al dente perfection, and the tomato sauce had a rich, robust flavor, complemented by a generous sprinkling of Parmesan cheese. The second pasta dish was the classic Cacio e Pepe. The balance of pecorino cheese and freshly cracked black pepper was spot on, creating a creamy and indulgent dish that was comforting and satisfying.
Next, we enjoyed a refreshing Caesar Salad. The romaine lettuce was crisp and fresh, generously coated with a tangy, creamy dressing and topped with crunchy breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan. It was a delightful start to our meal, showcasing the restaurant’s dedication to quality ingredients and balanced flavors.
We also tried the Meatballs with Polenta, which were outstanding. The meatballs were tender and flavorful, served on a bed of creamy polenta, and topped with a rich tomato sauce and fresh arugula. The combination of textures and flavors in this dish was superb, making it a standout on the menu.
For dessert, we indulged in two heavenly treats. The first was a bread pudding topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with caramel sauce. The bread pudding was warm and soft, with just the right amount of sweetness, and the ice cream added a delightful creamy contrast. The caramel sauce brought the whole dessert together beautifully. The second dessert was a rich and decadent chocolate tart. The tart had a perfectly crisp crust and a luscious, velvety chocolate filling that was simply divine.
Throughout our meal, the service was impeccable. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that we had everything we needed without being intrusive. The attention to detail and the quality of the food and service at Jame Restaurant make it a standout dining destination.
Overall, Jame Restaurant exceeded our expectations. The combination of excellent food, outstanding service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere makes it a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a top-notch dining experience. Whether you're there for a casual meal or a special occasion, Jame Restaurant is sure to impress. We will definitely be...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to visit Jame in El Segundo with a large group of 11 adults and 2 children on January 3, 2025. While the food was exceptional and deserving of 5 stars, the overall experience was marred by poor value and subpar service.
To start, I made a reservation on December 11, 2024, and later increased the party size which triggered a requirement to work with an Event Coordinator and limited us to a "Prix Fixe" menu. This menu offered two pricing options: $70 or $80 per adult. We opted for the $80 per adult option to get the Rib-eye.
However, upon reviewing the menu and the dishes served, I was shocked to discover that we were charged $340 more than the standard menu price. The dishes served were not family-style portions, but rather individual servings that we were forced to split among the whole group. For a group of 13 we were served only 3 dishes of each of the following:
$10 Ciabatta plate $17 Brussel Sprouts $18 Caesar Salad $20 Meatballs $25 Spicy Rigatoni $25 Tagliatelle Al Ragu $45 Rib-eye Desserts (assumed to be $10 each)
If we had ordered these dishes from the standard menu, the total would have been $540. Instead, we paid $880, which is a significant markup! Even if we had been given 4 dishes of each course, it would have been $720 from the standard menu.
The service was also severely lacking. Despite working with the Event Coordinator, we were not greeted upon arrival, and no one explained the menu or the courses. Having arranged the party with my family, I knew the menu and was apparently expected to explain it to my group. No one even asked us what we were celebrating or attempted any personal communication. We had to ask multiple times for water, and even then, we were only brought one carafe for the entire group. Please note the receipt, we only ordered 6 alcoholic drinks the whole meal so we weren't over-taxing the bar.
Overall, I was disappointed and it was incredibly embarrassing for me to have everyone hungrily looking around for more food and politely try to offer each other the last meager bits of food on the serving plates. The food was delicious, but the value and service were not justified by the exorbitant cost. If you're planning to visit Jame with a large group, be aware of the potential for overpricing and poor service.

First off, parking is always a bit tricky and personally found it to be trickier on nights, especially if there's a special event happening that closes off some streets nearby. I've sometimes parked at the parking lot a street down or a few blocks down.
As some note, Kalb's restaurants sometimes lay a bit more on the saltier side but for the most part, I haven't had a huge issue with this myself personally. Here's what we ordered over the years!:
*Meatballs: One of the dishes I thought was sorta so-so for me personally - a pretty straightforward and medium-sized set of meatballs. My friend liked it though. *Brussels Sprouts: Always love a good brussels sprouts dish and this was pretty solid. A great dressing and cooked well. *Seasonal pasta: We had the summer 2024 seasonal pasta dish which was a spaghetti with green sauce mixed with cucumbers and other veggies. Really solid and came highly recommended by our server. *Kale Salad: Also surprisingly tasty. Loved the dressing and came out super saucy along with bits of avocado and cheese. *Spicy Rigatoni: Not super spicy but loved the flavor and super saucy. One of my favorite pastas from here that I definitely get time and time again. *Tonnarelli: Their take on the cacio e pepe to me was pretty by the books. Not as memorable as the spicy rigatoni but still pretty solid. *Wanderer Farm Ribeye: I personally think the ribeye itself was okay. The real star of the show is the port agrodolce sauce which is a little sweet and flavorful. *Steve&Dina: A delicious cocktail with a nice kick from the habanero.
Seating is super plentiful including a lot of outdoor tables. I think it's personally better to sit indoors though mostly because there's more personality indoor with the old school Hollywood and modern fusion of furniture and decor. Servers were all pretty awesome and knowledgeable!
I think their DineLA deals in general have been fantastic - especially their lunch menus which have been around $25 for the two years that I've went.
Definitely a spot that I love coming back to...
