I had to debate with myself a bit on whether to give this place four or five stars. I had a wonderful evening out to Sausal, and thought the food was excellent. I just don't think it went above and beyond enough, however, to give it five stars, when considering the high price and small portions.

We actually drove out to El Segundo to try out a different restaurant, an Italian restaurant nearby. When we walked by this place, however, it really stood out to us with the dining area that looked hip and classy and was buzzing with activity!!

I also found out upon being seated that they are participating in the DineLA going on currently, so I decided to order the three course menu with a margarita and dessert that they are currently offering for $39 with DineLA. My boyfriend got one of the soups and a taco.

Don't get me wrong, the food all tastes delicious! The empanada for the second course on the DineLA menu was a favorite for both of us. Very rich and flavor and had great seasoning and toppings. Everything is just so ridiculously small and expensive, though. A single taco is about $7, and a plate of enchiladas is $24. I can understand fine dining, but I don't think the quality was enough to warrant it, as it was about on par with much less pricey Mexican restaurants that I have been to before. I will note, however, that the (small) dessert sampling for the DineLA menu that came with chocolate and fruit was AMAZING. The chocolate was absolutely perfect, by far one of my favorite dessert's that I've tasted. So I'll give it that. The dessert was certainly exemplary.

Overall, a very solid meal. A bit pricey, portions quite small, and service a bit slow, but still a great experience with good...

I usually don't leave reviews unless I either loved a place or want to warn other people about a place. With Sausal, it's definitely the former.

With the new American Express Platinum refresh, I now get $100 a quarter to spend at any Resy restaurant. We decided to finally check out Sausal, intrigued by their menus online and, specifically, their coconut flan.

Well... Color us extremely impressed! The food was on the slightly pricier side, but it was VERY good and very filling. Every dish we tried was delicious and had substance - it honestly was way more filling than I thought just looking at it. My short rib quesabirria tacos had sooo much meat, and the consomme was amazing. So were the rice and beans. Kiddo ordered a pork shank dish that was super flavorful and came with tortillas, rice, and black beans. They were nice enough to put the chipotle crema on the side too since he's still learning to tolerate spicy food. Partner ordered the cashew mole dish and that, again, was SO good.

The happy hour drinks were bomb too, I loved the vamos a la playa. And again, the drinks had substance... They weren't watered down at all.

The coconut flan... That thing was so good we immediately began thinking about bringing them for family gatherings 🤤 it was perfect.

We'll definitely be going back...

Hidden. Gem. Listennnn, I had never heard about this place, but I'm here to tell you, the food is AMAZING. The Arrow Con Pollo was delicious, chicken was juicy, had the perfect level of crisp and char paired with the rice and peppers 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾 the customer service, also AMAZING. Our waitress was on point but other servers chipped in and all were great and friendly. I went this past Friday 12/3/21, they had a DJ, he was gooood, extra O's so you understand. Also I'm a DJ myself so that should tell you something. He had me dancing in my seat the whole night. The drinks were awesome, the manager Robert was great, friendly and very attentive he made sure everything was to our liking from start to finish. The recommendations were spot on, no one at any point tried to upsell, which was refreshing. Every month there's a tequila tasting and special drink menu with the selected tequila. My night it was Adam Levine's brand, very smooth. Those cocktails were also on point. This is definitely a hidden gem, whether date night, friends getting together or anything else. I highly recommend checking out Sausal, you won't regret it and you can thank me after. The entire experience was great, I had no issue parting with my money and I'm sure you...
