Cafe Bara — Restaurant in Elgin

Not what it used to be. I was loyal customer but the current girls working there are a handful. I ordered a matcha latte with boba but I got milk with a hint of matcha and barely any boba. Their friends who ordered after did get the normal boba amount. When the owner had more of a presence the quality was way higher, but when he isn't there, his staff sits on the floor with thier phones, and treats customers according to if they are their friends or not. Prior to the current crew, quality was outstanding, service phenomenal. I truly hope the owner recognizes the issue. As of now I will no longer be a customer. My husband and I stopped in last night and are absolutely glad we did. Amazing service and drinks. My husband knew what he wanted going in, but I wasn't sure. I asked for lavendar and, who I assume was the owner or manager, asked me what kinds of stuff I liked and he suggested blueberry matcha. I had never really had matcha before so he described the flavor of it and I decided go give it a try. Absolutely glad I did. They were out of bobba, but he also let us know that before we came in and it was no big deal we just wanted to try the tea. :) 10/10! My husband is determined to go back...

This rebrand is just a feeble prayer to have a fresh start from a horribly tainted foundation. With an open mind I tried this place again after it was stripped of its D&T franchise status, and was unpleasantly surprised to discover that both the food and service had not changed a bit from how disgusting and uncomfortable they used to be. Actually, I would recommend this place if you enjoy fake powder flavors in your desserts with a side of unhygienic saliva to top off your order from the rude spit I once again received from my cashier.
