Went in for dinner for the 3rd time this month. Sat at the bar and again ordered the filet and crab Rangoon roll with lots of extras items. Let me start with the food is why I keep coming despite the fact that I know several employees. The BLT salad is amazing just as it was tonight as well as the sushi. My filet was well overcooked and they did run out of a free items including what my date ordered, but that is still not the reason for the review. So here’s the reason… My sushi came out and chopsticks were served my filet and salad arrived next but I had no silverware. I noticed a rack of silverware that an employee was rolling across the bar. So I went to get myself some silverware as the bartender was busy making drinks for other servers. After I get the silverware to enjoy my food a hostess said “could you please ask for those next time I just washed them”. Okay I just got my food my bartender is busy and I helped myself which I shouldn’t have even had to do, but now I have to get scolded by a 20 something hostess. “Ask”I would have if there was someone to ask. I guess I should have just let my steak get cold while I wait to ask. Then after I had to listen to the host talk about me to another employee while she sat and rolled the silverware at the end of the bar. I ate my meal but it really still bothered me. No apology that I had to get my own utensils. So as I was leaving I did ask the hostess that scolded me what was the point. Was she saying I was dirty and shouldn’t touch the silverware (I had just washed my hands). She really couldn’t respond or acknowledge that I was the guest and I shouldn’t be scolded. She did say I didn’t mean to offend you but still no sorry she did say your bartender should have gave you silverware still no sorry she did say again I didn’t mean to offend you but still no sorry. At no point did she ever take township that she shouldn’t have scolded a guest that took it on himself to get what should have been provided. The hostess that I’m referring to was Katherine (short, long dark hair). Will someone from management please explain that she is in customer service and if a customer is getting something that should have been provided that the initial response should be “I’m sorry” then she could still add the next time ask. I really do hope that someone reads this and responds to me. This just in after I left I got a message from one of the people that work there saying that I was ban from coming back. Hard to even believe being that no management was even aware of the situation until after I left. I never raised my voice but I am sure that Katherine felt uncomfortable as she should after scoring a customer and...
Read moreTried Drake's for the first time this evening. The hostess Meadow was very friendly and told us there would be approximately 20 minute wait I told the hostess specifically that we would like a table and not a high top barstool table. The hostess assured me that our request will be accommodated. Very quick turnaround on the wait as it ended up only being about 12 minutes. After receiving the text message that our table was ready, there was a different hostess at the stand. She told us to follow her and she lead us to a high top barstool table. I politely explained that I asked for a table because members of our party are unable to sit comfortably at a high top barstool table. The hostess seemed slightly annoyed but found us a table close by that was just being cleaned off. This is why I am deducting one star. I would hope that the host staff would pay closer attention to specific requests.
Our server was Philly, and they did an excellent job, taking care of us. Service was great considering this place just recently opened in the last couple of weeks. Our server made sure that our drinks stayed filled and checked in on us often. I ordered the buffalo chicken mini sliders. They were tossed with the right amount of buffalo sauce to bring just enough heat. Paired with crispy crinkle cut fries, it was a great meal! I did think it was a little odd that one of my mini sandwiches had ranch dressing on it and the other two did not. I would have loved it if all of them had ranch dressing on them. The house ranch dressing was amazing and the perfect accompaniment to the buffalo chicken sliders.
Overall, I think our first dining experience at Drake's was a success. When you visit, take note that the front room of the restaurant will be packed with people. There is one small walkway between the bar and the tables. It definitely makes it hard to navigate through that part of the restaurant. Fortunately, we were seated in the back, where tables were close to each other, but not as crowded as the front. I did not notice if there was a party room available. It would be nice to have an area where you could seat a larger group. We will probably give it a couple more weeks before we visit again. Maybe the newness will wear off a little and it'll be...
Read moreThe menu is too limited. The sides are too limited. For instance, they don't have mashed potatoes or baked potatoes. For the prices, there should be a salad and a side, not just the one side. We each got Smash burgers, but there was excessive grease in them. However, with the salad, we just wanted to share one small salad with crispy green lettuce,, pieces of tomatoes, and a container of ranch dressing on the side.. However, one of the salad choices was that it was prewet, with some ranch already mixed in. There may have been another flavoring in there, too. The server tried hard, but on this second day, she was unfamiliar with what was offered. However, she was pleasant and brought out our dishes, refills, and to-go items. The music is too loud, and it is not even relaxing music. They are going to have trouble with the wind and/or the rain entering through the huge screens where the outside air enters the restaurant from huge windows. I don't know if they have shades to cover their large windows if the sun is shining in at the diners. It feels like a sports bar to me, even though they told me it is not a sports bar. On a plus side is that the parking lot is huge. Edit: WhenI walked in, I asked a worker if it is a sports bar. She said "no." However, it looks like it is both a sports bar and a restaurant, especially with so many of the televisions tuned in to sports, loud music all around, a long bar/s, and much of the typical bar food on the menu. The atmosphere and the value...
