Have had poor quality food experiences from numerous Applebee's in various locations across the mid-west so thought we would give this site a shot at redemption as my wife develops an occasional craving for one of their oriental chicken salads.
Unfortunately for me, the grilled club I received was as cold as a Minnesota night in February and the bread was simply rock hard and presumed to have been sitting out for an extended period of time allowing for partial petrification. I can only assume that since this was a 'half sandwich' as part of the order (even though that fact is not specified on the menu anywhere that I noticed) somebody else got the initial piping hot half portion of the sandwich some time earlier this year and I received the second half of the sandwich at a later time . . . or date.
After bringing the cold, hard, board-stiff sandwich to the attention of our waitress, a new order was placed and a new half sandwich was brought out by the manager a short time later. Although the replacement was just slightly warmer than the original, it was grossly undercooked as the bread was barely toasted indicating minimal time on the grill and was a bit limp and soggy with grease with the cheese not even having an opportunity to begin the melting process. Rather than send the replacement half-sandwich back and incur the wrath and ire of the "chef", I kept the issue to myself and consumed it like a good soldier does.
Due to the typical quality of the food, I will likely not be a repeat Applebee's customer at any time or any where in the near future and probably not again until this visit plausibly becomes a vague and foggy memory in the recesses of my otherwise wearied brain or at the time my wife once again develops another craving for one of their oriental chicken salads.
I would like to add that the service is normally satisfactory, it is simply the food quality that I have issues with time and time again. You think I would have learned this valuable lesson by now, but apparently I am either a glutton for punishment or just need to keep the mama happy! Next time, she gets the salad to go and I determine a different tactic to satisfy my nourishment needs.
That said, I wonder how the customer who got the other half of my replacement half-sandwich fared in...
Read moreIt was horrible!!!!!! Applebees used to be one of my favorite restaurants. So much so, I've been begging my boyfriend to go with me and give it another chance since he has had bad past experiences leading to a fiery dislike for the restaurant. Yesterday(5/6/18), after a movie in Elk River, my boyfriend surprised me with dinner at Applebees. I had never been to the Elk River Applebees, but was confident that would be just as amazing as the Monticello Applebees(where I usually go). I was wrong. Within 10 mins of sitting down, I wanted to leave. The employees were very loud and unprofessional. Our male waiter SAT DOWN next to me while taking our order, as well as called me "boo" and my boyfriend "babe". This displeased both of us greatly, but we politely ordered anyway. The food took over 20 mins,... in which time, we couldn't even enjoy a pleasant conversation due to the employees howling in the kitchen! Yes, you read that correctly, HOWLING in the kitchen. After a couple minutes of this obnoxious howling, 5 of the employees-still howling- processed out of the kitchen with a dessert to give to a birthday girl sitting two tables away from us. They got the entire restaurants attention and asked everyone to join in singing Happy Birthday. Even after the howling birthday ordeal, the employees were still very loud, yelling across the restaurant to each other. When our food finally came, I was even more displeased. My Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp was VERY heavily seasoned, dry, and smelled funny. Not at all the delicious meal that Monticello Applebees provides My boyfriend dubbed his soup and Breakfast Burger to be "ok"... but the egg yolk in the Breakfast Burger was done half over easy/half weirdly textured something... most unappealing egg I've seen. What started as me begging him to go ended in him wishing he could punch our waiter and me pushing away my half-eaten plate and begging to leave. I do NOT plan to eat at this particular...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stopped in here for lunch today. First off we felt judged from the moment we walked in. We both have a small handful of visibil tattoos. Those with tattoos will understand that you 100% know when people are looking at them and judging you for it. It wouldn’t bother me if it hadn’t impacted the service we received. We were silently guided to a table and eventually our server came by and asked us what we wanted to drink. She then proceeded to take another tables drink orders shortly after that and then brought them their drinks almost immediately. She brings out 2 other rounds of drinks and walks past us at least 8 times and looks at us both sitting with our menus closed, clearly ready to order and doesn’t say a word. Still we’re waiting paintiently knowing full well that we’re being stared at and judged the whole while by both staff and fellow patrons. About 15 minutes later our drinks finally arrive and our orders are taken. We eventually get our food and are pretty much neglected our whole visit. We were as friendly and pleasant as possible and did our best to prove that despite the slight differences in our appearances we are normal and kind people. I order fish and chips and the fish tasted bizzare. My boyfriend tried some too and now we both feel terribly ill. I wanted to have a good experience here but nothing seemed to work out right. I feel that the atmosphere and attitude of those working at this establishment are not welcoming to anyone outside of the norm. We are very dissapointed and will not...
