Burger didn’t fit in my mouth, so I pulled a jaw muscle trying to bite the Fat Boy Triple Cheeseburger.
Couldn’t finish the fries.
Waitress called me a lightweight.
Therefore, I rate Daddy-O’s 4 (and maybe ½) stars.
These are not complaints, you see. These are, as Microsoft might say, “features.” That burger was huge, which once upon a time was a good thing, and moreover, it was delicious, so it was going to be eaten whether it fit in my mouth or not, and once it was eaten, there was not even a small chance that I could finish those fries.
As for the waitress, she was adorable, and therefore forgiven for any slight. But in truth, she was just trying to sell me a second Corona: “You want another one, or are you some kinda lightweight?” This happens to be exactly what I need if you want to talk me into a second Corona, which are in general to be drank only as a last resort when real beers are not available, which was true in this case, and is my only disappointment with the otherwise...
Read moreWe really love going to Daddy-O's... Really, it's our favorite little diner within driving distance from home. This fifties themed restaurant serves classic American fare. The food really is good, some items better than others. I was disappointed that they changed their menu. Prices have gone up and some of our favorites are no longer served. One of their signature dishes is the Sloppy Jalopy - a hamburger patty topped with chili. The best part is the service... Supper friendly and attentive staff. It's family run, and sometimes we arrive and it is unexpectedly closed. Best to call ahead and make sure they're open. But if you're in town and dinner time comes, stop in and know you're going to have a great meal with...
Read moreLooking for a place in Elk River to have a quick bite to eat and came across Daddy-O's. The restaurant is a fallback to the old hamburger places of the 60's. Plenty of memorabilia from Elvis pictures to an old juke box. Done very nicely. Food was excellent as I had a triple cheeseburger which was more than ample and delicious. The fries were fresh and seemed hand cut. My girlfriend had a large Philly cheese steak sandwich which she thoroughly enjoyed. Our waitress was also very pleasant and helpful. This place has the old time root beer floats and thick shakes. Could see myself coming back in the summer after a walk along the Mississippi River and enjoying one of their malts or shakes. Highly recommend Daddy-O's when...
