Been going for years as I've worked days and overnights. Lots of travel and car camping. Honest thoughts ahead.
24/7 rocks!
Cameras make it feel safer.
Cleanliness is below standard. Granted I normally go after hours, but when dogs and kids are everywhere all day and the floor is "swept" before the attendant leaves yet dust bunnies are below the machines? Not underneath but below? It wasn't swept, it had a broom down the center walkways. It makes using the lower dryers a sneezing fest, which I do anyway because I'm short and would rather leave the higher ones for bedding and/or taller people.
The bathroom functions. Not the nicest, in part due to use and the local riff raff (self included :) ) but it functions. The door locks but there's no bolt, understandably so no one sleeps there or gets high, but easy enough for someone to get in if they wanted to... like wrestling kids or creeps with a card...
Machines eat quarters all the time. Settings on the newer machines, older machines being older. Every other visit something happens.
I've gotten dimes from the quarter machine. Not a bunch, but three in one round is the difference between $.30 and $.75. Has happened more than once, new this summer though.
I go evenings or pre-dawn to avoid the owner. When I was new to town he was trying to sell me on the place as I was doing a load. Whenever I've been in during the day he religiously makes a beeline and tries to chat, even though I'm a single woman loading intimates while looking away and using every body language trick to say, "Not now, please not now". Awkward, invasive, embarrassing, and ruins every effort to be discreet about soiled and stinky unmentionables in public. No one wants to share gym bra smell and trail leggings, but I couldn't load them without unwanted company.
TMI: Early summer I had to work some period stains in hydrogen peroxide, alternating scrubbing/ soaking (aka doing laundry) as the rest washed and dried. I would have thrown them into the dryer afterward, as I was hoping the stains would be washed out. Not that time. Meanwhile he was trying to ask about the emails I was deleting on my laptop AND my "car without plates" that had the dealer's paper in the rear window. I was embarrassed and panicked, telling him to call the cops if he was worried, all while trying to hide the blood stained garments below the table/ seat next to me in the tub I bring. I had been hoping to finish my laundry in peace, and had picked the table behind the corner for that reason. I used my laptop to cover when I was scrubbing and multitask. Yet he still wanted to chat with an uncomfortable 30 something single woman hiding blood stained intimates that she was scrubbing between deleting personal emails. As soon as my load was done I drained the tub, took everything and left without drying the stained garments. And his parting comment? "Glad you're all charged up!" (Passive aggressive much?)
There's trying to be service oriented, checking on a customer to ensure they aren't abusing your business's hospitality, and then there's not taking hints and being invasive. If I wanted to talk I wouldn't have had my laptop and peroxide out. If you wanted to check and make sure I wasn't just loitering, or if you honest to goodness don't know that peroxide removes bloodstains (despite running a laundromat?), you could ask with a, "How's your load coming along?" or another laundery question. Instead I feel like my life story is cost of entry and have to spill tea I'd rather keep to myself, on top of worrying about inconveniencing other customers as I do my laundery. Then there's remaining polite when my hackles are already up, or just do my last minute stain removal in the new car, while walking back in every half hour to him watching me walk around and handle my clothing.
The parking lot is really awkward and tiny. Use the roadside gravel and walk in.
I get other people's pet hair/ fur in my loads. Public use, I get it, but it happens all the time (even with the extra charge...
I have a significantly lengthy history using this laundromat. I have lived in the Ellensburg area for nearly 4 years, and live mobile in my camper van. I need to use a laundromat on a regular basis because I strongly dislike being dirty and having dirty bedding and clothes around.
This laundromat has always exceeded my expectations. Sure they usually have a few machines down, but that is pretty typical of any laundromat.
I just recently took a 10 week vacation driving around the country, driving 10,000 miles, and traveling through a total of 27 states.
I visited many laundromats across the nation. The Laundry Center here in Ellensburg ranks among the top laundromats that I have utilized!
The service is good. When I have had coins eaten by a machine, I have been reimbursed without issue. I have called and been reimbursed, but usually I just come in while staff is in, and they will help out on the spot.
I love the fact it is 24hrs. It works well in a town like Ellensburg!
Keep up the good work! As long as I am residing in Ellensburg, I will be frequenting this...
Read more14 loads of laundry coincided with a trip to Ellensburg and I decided to get it all done at once at the Laundry Center. For such a busy laundromat, the employees kept up with the work of keeping it clean and swept. Major kudos for Mariah and another employee (I think I heard her call her mom). They both went above and beyond at taking care of a washer that stopped working that I was using. All while keeping the place clean. As far as laundromats across the US are concerned (we travel quite a bit), this was a good value with plenty of water to get the clothes clean. If I was a college student, I'd be taking advantage of their 6 loader for 7.50 and oversized dryer for under 2 bucks haha! It's nice to get all your laundry done very quickly! I even learned a few tips from them both. I appreciate customer service with quick solutions and that's what I received at the Laundry...
