I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Pop Pot & Bowl, and I must say it was nothing short of a disappointment. From the agonizingly slow service to the abysmal taste of the food, it was a truly unsatisfactory visit.
Let's start with the service. We were left waiting for an excruciatingly long hour before our food even made its way to our table. The lack of communication and updates from the staff during this extensive wait left us feeling frustrated and neglected.
To make matters worse, the food itself was a major letdown. Almost every dish we tried had an overwhelming and unpleasant level of saltiness. It felt like the chef had gone overboard with the seasoning, completely overpowering any other flavors the dishes might have had. It was a struggle to even finish our meals.
The mix-ups with orders and tables further added to our displeasure. We witnessed our plates being mistakenly given to other tables, while their orders found their way to ours. The resulting confusion and disruption to our dining experience were incredibly frustrating.
Even when it came time to settle the bill, the restaurant struggled with removing dishes from our order, causing unnecessary delays and confusion. It was an additional inconvenience that further soured our overall impression.
While it's important to mention that Pop Pot & Bowl had a decent ambiance, the poor service, overly salted food, and disorganized operations overshadowed any positive aspects. It's disheartening to have such a disappointing experience when dining out.
I sincerely hope that Pop Pot & Bowl takes this feedback seriously and takes immediate steps to address the issues at hand. Improving service efficiency, refining the seasoning of dishes, and enhancing overall organization are crucial for a restaurant's success.
Given the extent of our disappointment, I cannot in good conscience recommend Pop Pot & Bowl to others based on this visit. I truly hope they make the necessary improvements to provide a more enjoyable dining experience...
Read moreI went here for a lunch. Have been hoping for an excellent chinese spot to come to Ellensburg for some time now. Unfortunately, my wait continues. I adore Mongolian beef, but this establishment's Mongolian beef left me feeling unsatisfied. The Mongolian beef was slimy instead of crispy. I also found the flavor of the Mongolian beef sauce to be chemically and unbalanced. I also ordered Honey Walnut shrimp. While tasty there was an issue with the water from the broccoli mixing with the sauce making it unappetizing. There was also some discrepancies between the physical menu and the online menu that made it a little bit confusing when it came to knowing what to expect from a dish. The biggest issue though was the service. I felt the service was lacking more than anything. One of the dishes I ordered was never delivered. I reminded one of the wait staff that we were waiting on the dish. They responded with a quick nod but never brought the dish. I then told another server that we still hadn't received it and would like to cancel that item and they seemed to doubt if I was being honest. Ultimately, they removed it from our order and apologized for the inconvenience. There was no offer to comp anything after the mistake, which is fine, just a note. Overall, based off my experience I would advise managing your expectations. This being said I have not tried their hot pots as of yet. I saw several at different customer's tables and they looked amazing and smelt just as good. So it may be that what they really shine at is hot pots in which case ellensburg is lucky to have a new cuisine available to...
Read moreMy daughter and I had Mother’s Day lunch here yesterday. We found the experience delightful. We were visiting from Wenatchee.
The restaurant ambience is casual and young with a charming bicycle theme decor. Our server was personable and attentive. The booth seating was good for me. I am short and often find table height too high - not so here. We were very comfortable.
The menu offered a wide selection. We opted to try the hotpot, not available at any restaurant where we live. Turned out to be a perfect choice. We were served in less than ten minutes. My seafood and tofu hotpot was beautiful - brimming with fried and soft tofu, shrimp, fish, and vegetables in a flavorful broth. It was delicious. I could feel the excellent nutrition in it.
We were offered a choice of spice level. Both of us chose on the spicy side. There were good condiments on the table as well. The broth was well made and would have been fine with no spice.
My daughter had the chicken curry pot. Crunchy tempura chicken and fresh vegetables. She loved it!
We will make a point of returning to this restaurant and will highly recommend it to friends.
A few further notes:
Looking at the price you may not know that each of these hot pots would have served two people abundantly. We took home the leftovers - very nicely packaged by our server - and had it for delicious dinner as well.
The tempura chicken was excellent. I think it would be better served on the side to preserve that crunch.
If this restaurant got busy, the service understandably might not be as fast. The food is freshly prepared....
