I ordered the marinated beef tenderloin, medium rare, with the portobello mushrooms and a side of the pork belly.
The tenderloin appeared to be cooked to medium rare (as I ordered it). It was extremely dry and completely lacking in seasoning. I'm not sure what they think they marinated it in, but it obviously didn't take. Except for the complete lack of salt, it tasted like something you would get from Outback Steakhouse. Just very, very poor quality meat for $35.
The pork belly was about the same. It had absolutely zero flavor. No seasonings to speak of. No salt to speak of. It tasted like they just threw the pork belly into the deep fryer and served it. I was not expecting deep-fried pork belly. Smoked, roasted, baked or braised would have been acceptable but definitely not deep fried.
I don't doubt that they do other dishes better, but for what they charged me, I expected much, much better. I really wished that I could have prepared the exact same meal for the owners just so they could see what it is supposed to taste like. In fact, I am extending an invitation to them to do just that. Let me know and I will show you how to do it.
The service was adequate enough, I suppose. I probably would have had a few more drinks if the server would have stopped by more frequently or answered my questions in a timely fashion. After I asked her how much they were charging for my Blanton's, she walked by me six or seven times before asking if I was ready for the check. I reminded of my question and then she got me an answer. I had to ask, because I assumed if they were charging $35 for that garbage steak, they were likely charging 35 or $40 for the single shot of Blanton's. This particular server could definitely benefit from learning their menu better and knowing what goes into their food. She was not even able to tell me what they marinated the steak in or even if it was a sweet marinade. She was very polite and friendly, but unfortunately I did not go there to make friends.
The atmosphere was a different story. It was a beautiful restaurant that was kept very clean and presentable. They could probably replace their menus, but that is absolutely not a deal breaker.
As it sits, I would likely not eat here again. As I said, I'm sure they do other dishes better, but the other dishes they had on the menu typically do not...
Read moreAte dinner with some friends there tonight. Service was good with one fairly major exception of not disclosing menu changes. Drinks were good & the food was ok.
I ordered the blackened ahi tuna crisps & roasted beet salad. The ahi starter was delicious, but there are only 3 "crisps" so don't plan on it covering an appitizer for 4 people which is a little off but oh well... The roasted beet salad was NOT what it said it was. They served canned beets on the salad & totally ignored the fact that they aren't serving what is on noted on the menu 😡. Would have been nice to be told they had no roasted beets (since it's literally included in the TITLE of the salad) at the time & would be substituting with a canned product, so I could decide if I still wanted to order it or offer it at a discounted rate since it's being served cold straight from the can or jar it was bought in & not heated at all in any way shape or fashion to even attempt to make it "roasted" as advertised. I ate it anyway & didn't send it back because I thought maybe I read something wrong & was too busy focusing on enjoying what little time I had left with my friend before she moved out of state to worry about wording on a menu. But once I got home, I decided to see if I mis-read the menu & I sure didn't. Disappointing, if you don't have all the ingredients & have to sub them to make the dish then that's fine, but the least you could do is let your patrons know prior to serving it to them. I could have made that salad at home with a can of beets & paid a 3rd of the price. What's worse is that I've had a better beet salad at the local hospital here in Ellensburg, but I knew I was getting canned beets...
My friends both ordered the artichoke chicken, I tried a bite & it was pretty good. They did not skimp on the amount of artichoke they stuffed the chicken with as the chicken was totally smothered in the dip as well. My friends were very pleased with their dinners. Not sure any chicken dish is ever worth $29 a plate, but eating out is more expensive post covid & I'm still having sticker shock...
Read moreMy Wife and I were hiking close by for our anniversary and stayed in Ellensburg. Did not intend on going out for a romantic dinner, but while walking on Pearl St, found this place. We didn't go in, but decided we would come back later to just grab a quick dinner. We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the door to see this absolutely beautiful restaurant/bar! Very rustic theme and beautiful wood throughout. We had a comfortable booth and were greeted promptly. Server was very friendly and she had the wine/soda list memorized. My wife had an absolutely lovely Riesling (according to her, as I don't drink alcohol) while I had Sprite. I ordered the Pesto Pasta with Chicken and my wife had the Artichoke Chicken. I can say hands down, best Pesto I've ever had. Both our chicken was cooked to perfection, the Garlic Knots on my plate were to die for and my pasta was delicious. Beautiful dinning area, ornate chandeliers, great lighting, great music and the price...I cannot believe the quality and quantity of food we got for such an amazing price! They also have an outdoor seating area that looked really nice, though we did use it. I can't recommend this place enough. I felt bad I couldn't tip more than I did ($17.00), but I literally gave the Server all the cash I had on me after paying (forgot my debit card, so paid cash for the meal) This place is a Diamond 💎 not a Pearl! The photos I took of our food do not do the presentation justice! I'm just a bad...
