Heading back to Lewiston, Idaho, from Seattle (108 miles) , on East 90, we decided to stop in Ellensburg, WA, for a bite to eat. Ellensburg is a small town of around 19,000, and home to Central Washington State University (CWA). Being that we had always just passed on by on our way to and fro, we were really surprised by the town and the numerous great eating places (Smokey's BBQ).
Discovered that this was town with a long-storied Rodeo History (100 years). The Rodeo stadium is now being expanded and enlarged for the 2026 Rodeo Season. We are now seriously considering attending the 2026 Rodeo.
And, as we were learning all about the towns Rodeo History, we found across the street the Clymer Museum of (Western) Art and Rodeo Museum. What a pleasant surprise.
Great old West paintings and historical exhibits covering Rodeo history, personalities, and memorable. One comes away with an understanding how intertwined the community is with agriculture, ranching and the rodeo.
The staff were helpful, informative and friendly. Great gift shop. Donations are welcome.
My one recommendation: Some advertising and signage on highways to promote the Museum. Am sure that anyone who stopped would be pleased. Have already recommended Clymer Museum of Art to other friends traveling that way in November. Yippie...
Read moreI love this place! Location is great downtown Ellensburg so you can shop & eat. Parking is a bit rough at times but there’s places around the corner so you don’t have to walk too far. Tons of interesting things to not only look at but also purchase. So many neat trinkets & gifts. It really is a unique place to visit if you haven’t. And if you have, worth going back. Very friendly...

They were of my Great grandparents. We really appreciated that & I wish I had gotten the girl's name. She was very kind. It is a...
