We were looking for a lunch place in town that we were passing thru but specifically wanted to check out downtown main street. I found this place and it said it had fried green tomatoes (which i haven’t had since i was in New Orleans & i miss them). When i called to confirm they were dog friendly (it said outdoor seating), they said they were but not kid friendly (which was fine as we didn’t have kids with us). We got there - not busy as mid afternoon during the week and went inside to confirm where we could sit. Our order server came out with menus & took orders. Found out they didnt have the fried green tomatoes so I was very disappointed but they did have deep fried pickles (not spears) and that was fine. Ordered off the Happy Hour menu which was prefect size. My husband & I ordered the same entree but different sides. Sometimes Buffalo Sauce can be overwhelming so i asked for it on the side and was accommodated. It took some time to get our food and once it was delivered no further attention from our server (went in to get to go box, the check and the plan chicken that I ordered for our dogs that had not been delivered). Overall, the price was fair, the food okay (enjoyed the pickles & mac salad), dog friendly (which is major) and had a great location. As a person with serving experience, I wished it was more attentive than what it was. Give it a shot.

On one of my first trips to Ellensburg, I needed to stop for lunch. Im gluten free so we needed to find a place that served gluten free food that was open at the time (Sunday at 2:30 pm), and Julep Kitchen sounded like a good place to eat for me. My one complaint about the establishment is that people under 21 are only allowed to order takeout even though I could not find this information online anywhere, which was kind of annoying. Other restaurants don’t do this, but Julep did. However the food was fantastic! I ordered a burger on a gluten free bun with bacon, beef, cheese, lettuce, and their house sauce. It was fantastic and I ate the whole thing! I also ordered fries and they were great too. Food was fantastic at this place. Also the service was great and the employees were really nice about letting us order food even though I am under 21 and thus not allowed on the premises.

We loved being able to find a restaurant with vegan options while we were on our vacation! We got the vegan disco fries, the buffalo cauliflower po boy with sweet potato fries, and the tofu po boy with vegan coleslaw. The disco fries were incredible and both of our favorite item we had! Their gravy is top notch! The flavors were fantastic and the fries were crispy and delicious. My husband said the buffalo cauliflower po boy was good and he said the sweet potato fries were really good. I loved the tofu po boy other than I wished it had more sauce. The flavors were really good it was just a little dry. I took it home and added vegan ranch and it was excellent. The vegan coleslaw was very classic and nostalgic. Overall this is a great place to eat if you are a vegan in Ellensburg.

My friends and I went to Julep based on good experiences of a couple of the friends. We arrived shortly after 11am on a Saturday and there was hardly anyone there, which would seem to suggest we would get served quickly. Instead, while they were fairly prompt at taking drink and appetizer orders, it ended up being probably an hour before they took our lunch order. During that time, lots more folks came in, so maybe we got lost in the crowd, but it just shouldn't have taken that long!

I ordered the Hot Bird with the medium heat ("holy hell"), but when I started eating it I forgot that it was supposed to be a spicy sandwich. I'm not sure if they misunderstood my order or their heat levels are just a misnomer, but I didn't get the heat kick I expected. The fried chicken in the sandwich was pretty dry around the edges, and generally not something I would repeat. The dipping sauce that came with my tater tots (included with the entree) was delightful (and a bit spicy). I don't know what kind of sauce it was, and it wasn't the same dipping sauce that my neighbor got with her catfish tacos and tater tots (and I don't think either of us requested a specific sauce; hers was dill-based), so it must track with the entree. Additionally, the $17.50 seemed excessive for the sandwich (and a mass of tater tots!).

Next time I am heading through Ellensburg, if I am the one choosing the lunch place, I will try someplace else. Not bad, but not especially memorable (other than the company with which I...

Update: Went back and tried out the vegan south of the disco fries and tofu bites. Both were tasty. Service was ok.

This review is based off of the experience my girlfriend and I had while we stopped by Saturday Sept. 25 hoping to try some of vegan options. We tried the black bean burger, the po boy sandwich with black beans and the buffalo cauliflower bites. The cauliflower bites tasted good but were very greasy leaving a pool of oil after finishing the food. The black bean burger pattie/po boy pattie tasted pretty good as well but it was extremely difficult to eat the sandwich without the patties just falling apart. Patties were a little over seasoned. The vegan cheese was not very melted or warmed up. I would give this food experience more towards a 3.5/5. The service we received was interesting. We never received any water after we sat down and ended up asking for water after our food had arrived. There were two servers that we interacted with. One took our order for some alcoholic beverages and the another took our food order a little later. After recieving our food the servers never checked back in with us (We flagged one down to get the water). My poor girlfriend having eaten half her sandwich without drinking water ended feeling nauseous and threw up in her mask after we left. I really want to give this place another try but maybe take-out...
