DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS TERRIBLE DINER! Describing the service as awful would be an understatement.
Arrived at this small diner and found 3 separate couples lined up by the doorway. No one was taking names. No one appeared to care that there was a group of people queued outside.
I peeked into the restaurant and counted about 8 out of ~15 tables waiting for their food. Not a good sign I thought. After 25 minutes on line, there was only one couple ahead of us. One of the couple pointed out to me that there were 2 booths free and said "it won't be long now for us".
Ten minutes passed and still no one came to check on the line. The couple ahead of us decided to sit themselves down. Now we were at the head of the line. More time passed before I stopped one of the workers and asked if we could take the empty booth. He shrugged his shoulders and replied "Go for it". We sat down but we should have left.
Still more time passed before I stopped a waitress to ask if we could place our orders to which she replied "We are not in the position to take any orders now. We are busy." I wanted to leave but my husband felt that we've already waited so long that we should just give it a few more minutes.
Then, a father and son who was behind us in the line sat down at an empty table. A few minutes later they were being served as it turns out they were regulars. The 3 couples ahead of us in the line, however were still waiting for their food. They were not happy. We should have left over an hour ago and finally did.
This was absolute the worst service that I've ever...
Read moreBit of a confusing and frustrating experience. Place was a little busy, but there were a few open tables. All three of the servers kept intentionally ignoring my wife and I for about 10 minutes (literally walking past us multiple times, giving us glances but not ever returning smiles or even saying "we'll be with you in a few minutes"). We finally seated ourselves after another couple walked in and was greeted immediately and offered a table. There were two additional, subsequent groups of people that were greeted enthusiastically and seated, as well as given menus and silverware. We waited an additional 10 minutes at a dirty table, without ever being handed menus or even being greeted/directly acknowledged.
If the staff was simply busy, I'd understand. That's no problem. But greeting, seating, and serving three groups of people after we walked in, while simultaneously ignoring us, is something I've never experienced at a restaurant anywhere in the country. Truly 1 star service and truly disappointing.
On the other hand, we went to a different cafe just over a mile down the road, and had a much better experience: they were just as busy as Martha's, but we were greeted with a smile and seated within sixty seconds. Food and service was great, and the cafe was everything we were hoping Martha's Diner...
Read moreIll start this off with the good. The food was alright. Not great, not bad, normal diner food. The waitress we did end up with was also very cheerful and pleasant.
The bad was the rest of the service today. We came in and sat down around 10:30. We got our waters and utensils after about 20 minutes. The waitress who delivered this to us informed us that someone else would be waiting on us. The other waitress in question NEVER came over at all. Eventually we signaled to the original waitress. She came over and said she would discuss with the other waitress. She then took our order there after having a talk.
This place is by no means large. There are maybe 20 tables or so, many of which had emptied out while we sat in our corner. There were two waitresses.
The food took another 45 minutes to receive. We saw at least four tables that were filled after we sat down order their food, pay, and leave all before we had even ordered.
Maybe this is a rare occurrence, but our experience was disappointing to...
