Pilot Pete's Coffee & Treats — Restaurant in Elmhurst

I stopped by Pilot Pete’s Coffee & Treats inside the Elmhurst Metra station and was seriously impressed. This place is a true standout.

I ordered a large iced matcha latte and a ham and Swiss croissant. Both were absolutely amazing. The matcha was smooth, vibrant, and clearly made with care. Haley, who greeted me with a warm smile, took my order and prepared the drink herself. Her friendly energy set the tone for a great experience.

The ham and Swiss croissant was buttery, flaky, warm, and packed with flavor. It felt like something from a high-end bakery. Rich, satisfying, and comforting.

What makes this spot even more special is that it’s LGBTQ+ owned. You can feel the sense of pride and inclusivity as soon as you walk in. The service, the quality, and the atmosphere were all excellent.

Pilot Pete's truly is the best coffee around, whether you are grabbing a no nonsense cup of joe to go as you dash for your 6:13 am train to Chicago, or savoring one of the best lattes around or one of Pete's awe-inspiring handcrafted seasonal creations, like the Noggacino. And Pilot Pete's is coffee that CARES. We are talking about exceptional and warm customer service, but it's also great to support a local business that works so hard to give back to the community. Whenever possible Pete's coffee and ingredients are organic and/or ethically sourced, supporting fair trade and independent growers, and Pete's also goes above and beyond to donate and fundraise for deserving local causes, whether it is a family in urgent need or a special drive supporting the homeless or the water protectors at Standing Rock. Having moved from coffee-mecca Melbourne, Australia years ago, we've been desperately seeking the same caliber of coffee we so dearly missed. Thanks to the recommendation of a friend/neighbor we gave Pilot Pete's a try. My husband ordered our first round of Pete's coffee to be delivered to our door for my birthday.
