Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Emporia

Last night was Easter and my birthday. After spending time with family in Wichita, KS and being unable to find a place to eat there, we came home to Emporia and decided to grab a bite to eat. I have supported this local restaurant throughout the pandemic and I was less than pleased with my experience with the current. We order at least once a week by Uber Eats or Carside to Go. It was 9:35pm and the door stated they close at 11pm on Sundays. We went inside and the hostess told us that he could not seat us or let us order any food to go. He stated they were closing at 10pm. I asked to speak to the manager on duty. He came after a few minutes and dumped on me what a crazy day it had been (it's Easter, duh) and that they decided to close at 10pm, no sign on the door, no display for customers to know this before entering the restaurant. The manager stated that we would not be seated and I told him that there was no way that the people in the restaurant would be out by 10pm. I asked for the manager above him and he stated she was not there. I asked her name and he gave my Honey, I asked for the last name and he mumbled it. When I asked for contact information, he threw his hands up and yelled, "Are you gonna order food to go or not? I said, no but would like the GM contact information." He yelled, "I am not dealing with you," and walked back to the kitchen area. Left me and my son standing in the restaurant. It was embarrassing and I never received the GM information. I want this resolved and will go all the way up the ladder if I have to. I want an apology from that manager whose behavior was distasteful. I want to speak to the GM and I will speak to the owner of the restaurant if I have to go that far. Local people have kept the doors of Applebee's open. They also turned away a gentleman who had been on the road for hours and stopped in town to eat. He said he will never come to Emporia again to eat because of his experience. 9:35pm and we can't sit and eat or order food to go? You change the hours and don't post? You talk to customers like they are trash and walk away without providing requested information to file a complaint or grievance? Applebee's Emporia, you...

We visited this restaurant on Sunday, July 16, 2017 arriving at approximately 1:35 pm. We waited over an hour and a half for food and they weren't that busy. People who arrived after us got their food and left before we even got ours. We weren't seated in an out of the way area either, we were right by the front doors. Took server, Ryleigh, three times being asked for sweetener for my Mom's tea. It took almost 45 minutes for the server to even say she would go check on our food to find out what was taking so long. Then said it was some kind of a computer screw up. Then it took 10-15 minutes more to get told they were still working on the salad. The food was not very good. Some was cold and/or over cooked and/or dry. I'm guessing the four cheese mac n' cheese is normally good!! Then we asked for a manager. Who, when she (the assistant manager) came to our table, said "Let me have it"!! Our server had told her there was a problem, but left out the fact that we had waited well over an hour for our food. She offered 1/2 off. My Mom informed her it should be free. We did get it free, but still the lack of doing their jobs and lack of a descent attitude was not even worth it!! She came back to our table and gave us (my mom, grown daughter and myself) her card with a note on the back of it with her signature offering us a free entree on our next visit and giving my daughter four free kid meal cards (she had two of her kids with her). We had met there to eat lunch and to drop off one son and pick up another son to spend time in Wichita with their grandparents. Won't be making that mistake again, even with free meals being offered. Oh and did I say, we already had an Applebee's gift card we were going to use that my Mom had...

We stopped here on our way to Kansas City and it was horrible! Our appetizers took about 30 minutes to come out then our food took an hour to come out. When our food came out it was cold and when we asked to speak with a manager she was to busy to come and speak with us . Instead of helping us she was laughing and talking to the waiters, at one point I caught her laughing and pointing to our table as if this was grade school and not a restaurant . The restroom was absolutely disgusting, there were tampons on the floor, toilet paper all over the restroom floor and 2 out of the 3 toilets had urine on them! They were not busy at all other then our family of 5 there was maybe 20 people inside. Now to the hostest he would stare at the people coming in instead of opening and holding the door. He Almost seemed to be dazed . The hostest was looking at the seating chart nodding off and almost falling into the podium ..It was a horrible experience with horrible food . The one good thing I have to say is about the waitress, she was on top of everything and tried to make everything right for us. We will not be stopping into this...
