Spangles — Restaurant in Emporia

We decided to check out the Spangles in Emporia when we moved back to Kansas. We were pleasantly surprised by the fun decor inside. Tons of chrome, neon and decorations from the 50s. We ordered basic burgers and fries - everything was hot and delicious. My son had the chicken fingers and enjoyed them as well. Spangles is one of those restaurants you really miss when you move away from Kansas. Nothing compares. Every time we come back to Kansas, we have to stop at Spangles, Braums, and Taco Tico. Had to get an order of their onion rings, and they were the best I’ve ever eaten-the fries were great too! I know, it sounds like a heart attack in a bag, but on a long road trip across Kansas, it hit the spot!! Before leaving Spangles, be sure to order a Mud slide. We ordered breakfast approximately 0928, there were 2 cars in front of us, pulled up to the area where they ask you to wait if they are going to bring your order out. After we ordered we were asked to pull up behind the other cars. 9 minutes later some handed food to the car in front of us then brought us our order. My drink wasn't with the food, he went back to get it. While waiting for my drink noticed an order of hashbrowns missing, he went back to get those and napkins(also missing) One last look...no syrup for the French toast sticks!!! Luckily we could back up to the window to get the syrup. Drove away amazed at the incompetence only to discover the dip for the donuts was almost frozen solid! Come on Emporia Spangles, you need to step it up! Also the dining room was empty...

This place is slow as molasses! There were no patrons dining in the place, and a total of 3 cars being process through the drive through. Both the first car and myself were pulled ahead in to a waiting area for our food. Then I get back to my room and find the food was not even freshly prepared! Also the Dr pepper I ordered is not Dr pepper! It taste like a cup of 1/2 cream soda and 1/2 cherry syrup! I ordered a chicken strip dinner..... I got 3.1 chicken strips, fries without the garlic Parmesan seasoning I requested and was charged for, and did not get the chicken dipping sauce. There is not 1 thing about the meal which was correct! The food is soggy and greasy and I was charged 14 for a 4 piece chicken strip meal that was not accurate or good! Will never eat at another...
