Service was definitely mediocre. There was a party of 15 that put in their breakfast order ahead of us, so understandably our food took almost 30 minutes after ordering to hit the table (it was hot and delicious once we got it). . . However, if I wasn't in the industry I probably wouldn't have realized that, because there was zero communication from our server about that fact. I attached a picture of their table tent "draft list", where at least 2 of those beers were actually unavailable when my husband tried to order them (Guiness and the Alesmith Nut Brown); we also weren't informed of that until he tried to order each.one. (No, "Oh, I'm so sorry! We're actually out of Guiness and the Alesmith, etc, etc . . ." once he tried to order the first one they'd 86'd . . . it was truly an 'order it and see'-type situation with our particular server.) In the middle of placing our breakfast order our server mumbled something and wandered off to help her other table behind us with something. I actually said, "What?!" to my husband, because I couldn't hear/ understand what she'd said before abruptly leaving, he shrugged and said he couldn't understand her, either. So, apparently there was a matter more pressing at the table behind us than my question (it was only one- I wasn't monopolizing her time with a million questions) about making their breakfast options vegetarian friendly. Once we ordered (and I get it. I don't eat meat, so I have to sometimes modify orders to omit meat products. I never try to substitute anything in for it, but modifying orders when busy can be annoying. . .), the server sighed, "Ohhh-kayy" in an almost condescending manner. I was honestly left aghast at that, and remarked to my husband that I couldn't fathom saying that aloud, in that tone, to any table I've ever waited on in my 10+ years in the industry. I received my "build-your-own" bloody Mary glass with the vodka, but zero instruction on where the station was to actually make it (this server hasn't been coached on "deleting the wonder", apparently)- so, head's up! It's in the entryway directly to your left when you walk in. You might not notice it if you're more focused on the 'seat youself' sign or looking for a table (as I was) since it's open seating there. Hopefully I saved you from wandering around with a cup full of vodka as I had to do. The food and beverages are great, and a great value (hence the 3 stars). Just don't expect anything more than watching your server make herself a cup of coffee and lean against the server station chatting with a regular at the bartop while you wait 15+ minutes for another table touch so you can order something else. ¯(ツ)/¯ Great food and prices . . . Don't be expecting attentive...
Read moreDisappointed. Ordered two prime rib dips for pickup for $47. Arrived home and no au jus was included. Tried calling but no answer. Disappointing but an honest mistake
On our next dinner there one week later, I mentioned to the waitress. She asked what we wanted. I said maybe just free soft drinks if even that. She said she had to check with her manager. Maddy, the head manager we came to find out, came to the table. Never apologized just said they don't charge for au jus (the implication being that they can't compensate although I think most would agree that the dipping juice is an essential part of a French "DIP") and she had already authorized substituting mushrooms for French fries which our waitress told us was allowed and cost the same as French fries.
Now this is where it becomes inexcusable. She said if we had a receipt, had called or stopped in or had some proof as if we were there to buy there $33 (with full tip and tax) prime dip to get free soft drinks. I had brought the receipt and gave it to her also saying that I, of course, had called many times but no one answered. She then said someone is there to always answer the phone obviously implying that I was lying. I had called at least 5 times that day because I wanted to order to go and no one ever answered. She then took our number and said she, the head manager, would have to refer it to her boss. I did not care for being cross examined, questioned and then doubted over something that was not previously upsetting. I'm sure this will cost them much more because we will not return...neither will any of our large family. My Mom had said that she had had better prime dip and my Dad's piece had a chunk of grizzle in it that was over an inch square that could have easily have choked him at 95 years old.
Is it really so hard to just say "we're sorry" and be couteous without cross examination. So poorly handled and so many other great local restaurants that will treat us better and by doing so will gain our respect...

Nestled at 136 Encinitas Blvd, just a stone’s throw from the Pacific Ocean, Mr. Peabody Bar and Grill offers a fantastic dining experience with an unbeatable location. Our evening began at “The Regal Seagull,” where a kind woman named Shelly recommended Mr. Peabody’s just before closing time. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly bartender who told us to sit wherever we liked and assured us that a waitress or waiter would assist us shortly.
We visited on a Wednesday night and were thrilled to discover their wonderful happy hour deals on both food and beverages. Our party ordered a variety of dishes, starting with appetizers like potato croquettes, and followed by main courses including wings, baby back ribs, shrimp cocktail, a chicken sandwich, and onion soup. Every dish was flavorful and exceeded our expectations. The happy hour pricing provided incredible value for the quality and quantity of food we enjoyed.
A special shout-out to our excellent waitresses, Kaylyn and Alyssa. They were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and gave great recommendations that enhanced our dining experience.
Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, there was a classic rock cover band playing some timeless hits that did not disappoint. The live music was a perfect backdrop to our enjoyable evening.
